    For others. It didn't occur to me that anyone would argue this point for any reason other than the semantics of established definitions versus new ones (though I would hodl that the established definitions were tenuous and ill-defined anyway)

    Until you said something, I never thought anyone in this topic might have ulterior motives at all!

    Now I look about me and I see terrible thoughts lurking in the shadows

    So literally nothing is a console, since the Wii, Ps3, Xbox360, are home consoles, as opposed to a console.

    Same goes for a portable console.

    I don't know about the pc, though.

    A handheld device isn't the same as a home device, plain and simple. If you said are hadnhelds "portable" consoles, then that's different. But a PS3 isn't a PSP.


    The thread and poll said that handhelds are not consoles, not that they are not home consoles.

    A handheld device isn't the same as a home device, period. If you said are handhelds "portable" consoles, then that's different. But a PS3 isn't a PSP. A Wii isn't a DS. The markets are different, the puposes are different, the games are different. Sure, the devices have similarities, but they aren't the same.

    Regardless, this will just go in circles as a debate. So, it's pointless.


    No it's still a Goddam console.  CONSOLE you know an electronic device designed to play and interchange video games... which both portables and home consoles do, they're both subsets, portable is a subset and home is a subset...  It's like calling a cell phone not a phone cause it's not a LAN line it's still a goddam phone!

    Ya'll are all confused.  Console is a verb and games systems aren't verbs.

    Console-

    verb (used with object), -soled, -sol·ing.
    to alleviate or lessen the grief, sorrow, or disappointment of; give solace or comfort: Only his children could console him when his wife died.
