I personally don't think of handhelds when I hear "console," though mainly because I've barely dealt with handhelds (other than Pokemon, and the recent DS). Sadly, it seems this thread is mainly filled with people with an agenda - the whole PS2 vs DS being the top selling console deal...

The issue just immediately came to my mind (when reading), though I wouldn't expect you to argue for that reason, of course. I know you're the uh, English guy, so stepping aside...

For others. It didn't occur to me that anyone would argue this point for any reason other than the semantics of established definitions versus new ones (though I would hodl that the established definitions were tenuous and ill-defined anyway)
