Just dropping by to show a little love.
Congrats on your prediction coming true. And congrats to Sony and MS for having their best years, so far.
Still don't agree with your prediction for 2012, but we'll see.

what do you see happening that wont lead to that?
360 is going to have USA even more so as wii sales drop further (yes PS3 sales will also rise in US compared to last year b/c of this but more so for the X-box as US prefers it more at this juncture), there may not be a real price cut for the 360 next year meaning below199 but i believe it will have some type of cut to its current situation that will help it in EU as it looks like thats all it needed to take 2011 from PS3 (little help in EU). PS3 had a 50 cut this year that didnt lead to sale surges of its last cut in 09 theres no way it will get a $100 cut next year 50 if any at all, as this year showed that didnt have any meaningful effect. idk the exclusive SW situation next year most big games releasing are multi, the only thing i can think of the will cause some kinda of sales surge is Halo 4. GTA5 can cause a HW surge to the console that cuts the price at release time with the X-box console being the most likely to cut next year among the two i give the advantage to MS
its also and even numbered year X-box loves even numbered years 06 outsold PS3 gears was released was a hit, 08 price drop for 360 widen gap alot outsold PS3 again, 2010 relaunch brought new sales life to the aging console and kenict doing what they did

Agree with this. Plus, I still think there may be a few adjustments made that will have a higher gap for the PS3 than just the 300K. But, we'll see about that in a few weeks. Here's my reasoning, regardless of adjustments:
1. For next year, I think both the 360 and the PS3 will see a price cut. I think that's one reason why Sony only dropped by $50, instead of $100. It gives them more time to not only sell at a higher profit, but also to drop manufactoring costs down so they can sell at a similar profit, even if they drop it by another $50. So having the PS3 available for $199 for the first time (except 2011's Black Friday) is going to do wonders for the system.
2. This year showed us that while Kinect is still popular during the holidays, its popularity mostly comes from the US and UK. Everywhere else, it's pretty much dead. Also, it will most likely boost the 360 less than it did last year during the 10 months leading up to the holiday season. And even during the holidays, with it being in its 3rd year on the market, it will probably boost sales less the first 2 holiday seasons.
3. The 360 will drop its 250GB SKU to $199, but I don't see this giving it as big a boost as the PS3's cut. A $199 360 has been around since '08. Of course, the difference back then between models was pretty drastic, where as now the SKUs are almost identical except for the larger HDD. Also, with this cut, I don't see stores giving out ~$100 giftcards for nearly 2 months next holiday season. It will probably see the same ~$20-$50 giftcards the PS3 and Wii (and Wii U) will see for 3-4 weeks. Not sure if MS will due another Back To School 360 giveaway, too.

You really think that Ps3 will have a price cut 2 years in a row? Hrmm... interesting.
Yay!!!
Only 300k with a price drop lol, sure they might have sold more than 360, but have they made more? I actually thought the price drop would make PS3 catch up by 2 million or so. If 360 has a price drop next year (it haven't had a real one since 2008) it will be the best selling console of the year, save for maybe 3DS.
Do people really think a 300k lead is impressive? Its like saying the Persians killing the 300 Spartans was a Victory......it was technically but the Spartans made them hurt with a lot less working for them.
PS3 had a ton of exclusives, a price cut while 360 has been selling on 2008 prices.......without the help of mainland Europe and Japan.
Its a PS3 win, but a 360 strategic victory as well. 2012 now will be the real year where MS can afford to drop its prices where as Sony cant.

Yes, that's what I think too. 100 dollars every two years is Sony's thing |
Correct me if im wrong, so does Sony slash the price by $50 every year since release?
Yay!!!

Congrats on your successful prediction BHR. Sorry I didn't bump this myself but my computer crashed. In regards to your other prediction, I have to agree with Thismeintiel here. Another PS3 price cut is quite likely with them moving to the 22nm manufacturing process next year. And there's something everyone seems to be overlooking in regards to 360 sales. Look at DS back in mid 2010, it received a price drop back then as well but it had almost no effect, and it was still recieving pretty significant support back then as well. Even with the price cut sales declined quite heavily due to saturation. The situation will be similar for the 360 next year in the USA, and probably to a lesser extent in the UK. Admitedely 360 isn't at the same install base in the USA that the DS was at in mid-2010 but handhelds in general are more likely to have multiple units sold within a single household compared to home consoles, so as far as household install base is concerned it's likely closing in on it.

A win is a win no matter how large the margin, the only reason I say that is because didn't MS claim that they would win this year? maybe not in those exact words but they surely inferred it. Now because of what they said not only were they proven wrong but they also lost. Sure it was a GREAT year for both systems as this was their best year so far, but there has to be a winner, and that winner is PS3. Better luck next year to the 360 I'm sure they will try their best seeing as how another loss would mean 3 years straight with PS3 as the victor. And don't bring up all this "360 stood their ground w/o a price cut" what about the Apocalyps3? A lot of people decided not to wait for the PS3 to come back online so they went out and bought an xbox. That was a solid month of 360 out on top, but that didn't stop the PS3 from winning this year. If anything it is a great feat for the PSN to be down and still take the year. Congratz to both systems but one rose above the other.
