Yeah to raise the price because people liked it is a bad move. Nintendo pretty much is telling the world "if you want our gear for cheap, you have to hate it". Kind of a dumb business strategy. While 3DS looks very cool, its still a handheld, and I think a handheld should never exceed $200 personally, and won't get one until it drops to under $200. They priced themselves out of fair market value.

$150 would suffice but I'm sure it's going to be more than that.

Yup, but their 3DS shows were a lot better and didn't had giant enemy crustaceans.

I dont think their getting cocky, I just think they stuffed WAY too many features into the handheld that sent the price over the top. Does anyone even care for the gyro and motion controls the 3DS has?

DEMAND determines price, Nintendo finally realized that. It's business, if you don't like the price, don't buy it, there won't be enough to go around no matter what the price point is, anyway.

I believe that NO WAY will the price be 300$. Pricing doesn`t come through exchange rates, because if it were for that reason Wii would have been cheaper here in Europe than in the US and it isn`t, is it?
It`s going to more expensive than the DS was, that`s a given! The price will probably be between 200-250$. Maybe, just maybe, it will be 225 or something like that to be more appealing.

Even for 225€ i would buy one with the great games coming, the 3D and all the rest. For me it`s worth it and Nintendo believes that the market will feel this way, as well.

I think you misunderstood. You were saying Nintendo will probably be making A LOT of money on each 3DS based on launch price. The speculation is on your part guessing the cost for Nintendo to produce 3DS and distribute them.

I also disagree some of your points on PSP Go. Basically you implied that it is ok to overprice a product if a company doesn't expect it to sell well and just use it to test a new market. In the end, such company still is trying to milk its customers by overpricing such product. The difference here is that 3DS is actually highly anticipated. If there is a demand for it, I would say the price is justified. Perhaps PSP Go would sell a lot better if it is priced in the $150 range but Sony chose to have bigger margin on each unit sold instead.

We'll have to wait and see how 3DS turns out. Apple proves that you can overprice a product as long as it has features everyone wants with good buzz. iPad is the latest example. I was a big douber when iPad was first announced and thought it was way overpriced. I didn't think there will be enough consumers to spend $500-$600 on a tablet. Boy was I wrong. I still can't believe what a big success it is.

How much was the Wii at launch in Japan. 25,000 Yen right?

So if 3DS is the same it means it will be $250 and 250 Euro in the West.

It's what I perdicted and a very attractive price.

I don't think they're arrogant,but, the 3DS is overpriced.
