Forums - Sales - why the xbox360 will be micorsofts last system

I doubt sony will drop out of the console race, at least not this gen, they are still riding the PS2 wave. This gen probably will cause a shake up in their game department, however. Expect to see execs lose their jobs, as this is more of a monumental drop than what Nintendo did in the SNES->N64 exchange.

@WOW

wow, you must be really insecure about your console. You make me laugh !!! 100% failure rate??? WTF??? My console is almost a launch console and it's still perfoming nicely.

Re. sales, if any console has to worry about this it's PS3, sure it's getting slight boost lately, but look, with price cuts, bundles, new SKU, it's still struggling to pass Xbox 360 sales.

 Struggling to pass the 360?

Isn't it fair to say that Microsoft has put out ever major game in their arsenal, and has been out for a year longer gaining 3rd party support, as well as an install base.

IMO, according to the facts - Microsoft should be outselling PS3 worldwide 2:1, or more- especially since this was supposed to be "their holiday"

But still Sony is finding a way.

@OP, your post is just full of inaccuracies. I understand that you mean 100% failure rate eventually. But by the same logic- every PS3 has the same failure rate (each will fail eventually at some point in time) so the 33% failure rate is about correct without getting too philosophical.

I do expect Microsoft to make another piece of hardware.

And they will jump the gun by about 2 years, making it the first to the next gen market- the same as they did this gen.

p.s. this thread is major flame bait- but thats why its so much fun

̶3̶R̶D̶   2ND! Place has never been so sweet.

Hay, my thought train is totally incoherent and I'm also probably a teenager.

Oh, hello OP!

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

God, I couldn't even look at the OP. I swear, some people are out to murder grammar. I'm calling the police, as I consider wow's post nothing short of a death threat.

Yes, it is generally considered "struggling to pass the 360" mostly because they are indeed struggling to pass the 360. With every new bump in sales, Sony proudly proclaims vicotory and announces staggering percentage increases and says their officially past the turning point of slow sales, and yet, they still come in third behind the 360 in weekly sales. AARRRGGG , it must be frustrating as hell for them.

I for one don't think Sony and/or MS is about to leave this market. I DO however think that Sony may learn a very expensive lesson in this round and make PS4 closer in spec to PS3 to keep costs down as the bleed factor for them now is a Very Bad Thing .

As for MS, they have a bucket so full of money they could actually take losses forever if the shareholders let them.

And, lets face it, if either of them leaves the race it's bad for us, the consumers. Competition is good.

I have a few problems with the start of your post. Every game in their arsenal suddenly doesn't include Ninja Gaiden 2, Fable 2 and Bankjo Threeie? Basically the only big established franchise they have released is Halo 3 and they created a bunch of new franchises?

Also what MS hasnt done that Sony has is dropped the price like a badger on steroids.

THat logic applies to sony as well.

PS3 has and will have MUCH more true exclusive, not pc/x360 games, that`s why, people will choice ps3/pc not x360/pc.

Not to mention, that x360 has only 2 BIG games gears of war(multi now) and halo 3 and less Big mass effect.

Now, PS3 will have MGS4, GT5, KZ2(it will cause same effect as geow), FFXIII and less Big gow3, lbp.

So in 2008 PS3 will have MORE BIG games, then x360 in 3 years, that is LOL.

Every 5 seconds on earth one child dies from hunger...

2009.04.30 - PS3 will OUTSELL x360 atleast by the middle of 2010. Japan+Europe > NA.

Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far

There are also many other established, popular franchises still to be released on 360:

-Halo Wars (and Peter Jackson's Halo project)

-Splinter Cell: Conviction

-A new Perfect Dark that is actually a sequel to the original (not a prequel) and goes back to that version's gritty, realistic look.

-2 more Mass Effect games (Bioware said it's a trilogy and they're going to try to get all of them out this generation)

Those are just the already-announced sequels to big franchises that I just thought of off the top of my head (at 5:30 in the morning) that haven't already been mentioned.  So, to say that the 360 has used it's entire arsenal is just incorrect.  These games all come from multi-million-selling franchises (except for the Mass Effect games, since the first one just came out), and I see no reason why these entries won't do the same.  Not to mention all the highly promising new IPs in development, such as Alan Wake.

I'm in no way saying that the PS3 has no chance of keeping up, as it has FF13, MGS4, LittleBigPlanet, Afrika, GT5, etc, but please think before making rash statements.
