Forums - Nintendo - 3DS is $299 to much?

I perdicted $249 and it's a very good launch price. It will sell like hot cakes and maybe I will get one early too.

DS sales are driven by parents picking up something for kids to waste time with during boring tasks for kids.  I have 3 kids and they get to play DS when they are on long car rides or waiting like at a Dr. office sort of things.  No way I would pickup 3 of those until they are closer to $100.

How many DS/DSi/DSiLL do your kids have?

3 kids 3 DS.  Does that seem extreme to you? I dont know any parents that have the kids share DS's.

back in my day all we had was a can and a rock to play with. lol

Believe me when we travel (plane, train or car) having a DS or another hand held device makes the trip a great deal easier.  I think this is one of the reasons why software tie-ratio on DS is low.  Trips are a mix of DS gameplaying, reading and more traditional games. Our kids dont get to play the DS anytime they want.  My sister in law would bring her kids out to dinner with us and her son would be heads down in his Gameboy the whole time and we said never would our kids do that.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

Prices in GENERAL in Japan are way higher due to their cost of living. At most it'll be $250 and Ninty will probably try to have at LEAST one big game for its launch such as Kid Icarus, Mario Kart, or even just Ocarina of Time. A smart thing to do would be to package it with a chunk of DSI points (like $10 worth) to spend on DSiWare or the VC they've made for the 3DS.

That sounds about right.  Ocarina sounds like a good bundle game to, along with points to download a few games.

The software is low on DS from hacking. Outside of the PC and PSP the DS is the most hacked console.

So I say it again, those rumors 3DS specs better be RUMORS!  At that price, I dont want GameCube graphics niether Wii graphics, I want XBOX1 graphics or better ..

You, uh, do realize Wii is more powerful than the Xbox was, right?

But I read in some forum that XBOX1 was more powerful. People don't lie on the internet.

On the whole, it is.  The original XBox had a few features the Wii is missing though.  The gamecube and original xbox are comparible, and the wii is more powerful than the gamecube.

It'll be $250. I'm sure Nintendo know better.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

199.99 is my purchase Price unless it is backwards compatible then I will go to 249

300 in Japan means 250 in USA tops. Seriously everything is cheaper in USA, i can buy PS3 games from USA for half the price they cost here in Europe...

it's probably cheaper in japan because sony actually compete with nintendo in japan..

in the states nintendo dominates, so they can launch at a higher price and get even higher sales than in japan...

it could be $299 in the states...

While what you said sounded logical, based on recent history. Products are much cheaper in NA than EU, or JP.
