Competition #2 -- The BEST Donkey Kong Country *BOSS*! Welcome to the SECOND Competition of the week for this thread! In Competition #1 we saw our beloved animal buddies face off against eachother, the winner of the last competition was RAMBI. Now this competition will be between the FEARSOME bosses from the Donkey Kong country series! Once again vote for your TOP 3.....if you don't know the name of a certain boss, describe the world that the boss is in and our DKC expert Beuli2 will be able to help you identify your boss! Begin!
Just to help, here are the bosses of the series to help:
Donkey Kong Country:
| Very Gnawty | A giant Gnawty that jumps around, trying to hit the Kongs. It must be jumped on five times to defeat. Each time the foe is hit, it becomes angrier and faster than the next, making the battle progressively harder. | Very Gnawty's Lair | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Master Necky | A giant Necky that creeps its head out of the four corners of the screen, spitting out nuts. The creature spits nuts faster when damaged, but once Donkey or Diddy Kong jump on its head five times, with the help of a bouncy tire, it is defeated. | Necky's Nuts | |
| Queen B. | A giant Zinger that flies around the room. She is often accompanied by several smaller Zingers, who protect her from all attacks until they are defeated. Her weak point is her stinger, which must be hit by several barrels to defeat her. | Bumble B. Rumble | |
| Really Gnawty | A foe that is very similar to Very Gnawty. However, it is much faster and has the ability to jump much higher when angry. In the Game Boy Advance remake, Really Gnawty performs one large jump after it is attacked, causing fragile stalagmites to fall from the ceiling and hurt the Kongs. | Really Gnawty Rampage | |
| Dumb Drum | A giant Oil Drum that spawns enemies after it hits the floor, attempting to crush the Kongs. If the primates manage to defeat all the enemies it throws at them, the drum explodes and is defeated. In the Game Boy Advance remake of the game, a TNT Barrel appears every time one of the five enemy groups thrown from the boss are defeated. The barrels can be used to defeat the boss. | Boss Dumb Drum | |
| Master Necky Snr. | A similar foe to Master Necky. This enemy, however, is much stronger, and he sticks his head out of the corners of the screen and spits nuts much faster than the latter. He also spits more than one nut at a time at the heroes during the battle, giving them more to dodge. | Necky's Revenge | |
| King K. Rool | The Kremling that stole Donkey Kong's Banana Hoard, and the final boss. He has a variety of attacks, including throwing his crown, jumping on the apes, and causing cannonballs to rain from the sky. The primates can jump on his head to defeat him, although this can only be done when his crown is off of his head. | Gangplank Galleon |
Donkey Kong Country 2:
| Krow | This overgrown Necky is the first boss of the game. He often attacks by simply swooping down at players and throwing eggs at them. Once hit by a few of his eggs, the apes can defeat him. However, his ghost challenges them to a rematch later in the game. | |
|---|---|---|
| Kleever | Kleever is a giant sword appearing as the second boss in the game. He tries to attack the Kongs by swinging himself at them, and he can only be defeated by being hit by a kannonball. After being hit by a kannonball, however, he usually goes on a rampage, chasing the heroes over a pit of fire. A few small Kleevers can also be seen in the battle against Kerozene to attack the apes. | |
| Kudgel | This buff Kremling has a similar appearance to Klubba, but is gray in color instead of green. His weapon is very large and has a few nails in it. This weapon is used to attack the Kongs and break any barrels they pick up. Kudgel also has the ability to jump very high and try to smash the apes. If the heroes manage to hit him with a few barrels, he will be defeated. | |
| King Zing | King Zing closely resembles normal Zingers and Queen B. from the first Donkey Kong Country. He usually is seen flying around the area, trying to sting Squawks, the only character that can defeat him. Sometimes, King Zing shoots spikes at the parrot, which must be avoided at all costs. He can also break up into several smaller Zingers to protect himself. | |
![]() |
Kreepy Krow | After the Kongs defeat Krow, they face his ghost as the fifth boss, often referred to as "Kreepy Krow". He is fought in a similar way to Krow, though the Kongs have to defeat him with barrels while dodging some ghostly Mini Neckies. Eggs can also fall on them as they try to fight this creature. |
| Kerozene | Kerozene is a giant, orange Kremling that can only be fought in the Game Boy Advance remake of the game. He is immune to attacks thrown at his arms, but his face is his weak point, which must be attacked with kannonballs. He often uses his fists to attack or summons miniature Kleevers to defeat the Kongs. | |
| Kaptain K. Rool | King K. Rool dressed as a pirate. As the game's final boss, he wields a large blunderbuss, which shoots kannonballs and poisonous gases at the apes. The poisonous gases, if touched, can change the controls around for the player, making it harder to move the Kongs. Kaptain K. Rool also dashes across the area when being fought, trying to hit the Kongs. Sometimes, he even becomes invisible when doing this. He can be fought a second time within the Lost World's Krocodile Kore |
And Donkey Kong Country 3:
| Belcha | This giant barrel resides inside an old barn at the end of Lake Orangatanga. He has a tendency to burp when full, hence his name. His way of attacking is spitting barrels out of his mouth. Inside these barrels are yellow Klik-Klacks, which must be thrown into the boss' mouth to make him burp himself into a pit. However, if this isn't done fast enough, the foe might push the apes into a pit first. | |
|---|---|---|
| Arich | Arich is a large, red spider. He is fought at the end of Kremwood Forest in the level, Arich's Ambush. Arich hangs on a tread of web and he attacks by bouncing up and down and spitting venom at the Kongs. Only the barrels can defeat the colossus arachnid, as if thrown to the arachnid's jaw 4 times, he can fall. | |
| Squirt | Squirt is a large, rocky slug who lives on a waterfall. He is found in the Cotton-Top Cove in the level, Squirt's Showdown. Squirt's attacks involve him spitting water at the pachyderm to knock her off the cliffs where the battle takes place. Ellie the elephant can rebound it by sucking water from the waterfall and blasting it into Squirt's eyes. | |
| KAOS | KAOS is fought in the island, Mekanos. He attacks by exhausting flames to scorch the apes. Eventually, his head floats off of his body, and it fights against the apes separately. It can blast them with a quick laser. Eventually, KAOS stops and spins blades around him to hurt the apes. However, they can use it to their benefit by jump on them and attacking the robot's head. However, robotic arms try to sweep them away as they try to do so. KAOS is fought a second time in Kastle KAOS, with different tactics and moves. The Kongs must use barrels to defeat him, as he does not use his blades anymore. He reveals a new head during this battle, which uses bomb-launchers in its eye. He is still vulnerable to barrels, though. | |
| Bleak | Bleak appears in the snowy mountain, K3. His method of attacking is popping up in random areas and throwing snowballs at the Kongs. He can also use his hat has a snow cannon, blasting snow boulders out of it later in the battle. The Kongs can defeat Bleak by throwing snowballs at Bleak's amulet. | |
| Barbos | Barbos is a large Lurchin who resides in the area, Razor Ridge. However, she is fought in Pacifica in the Game Boy Advance version of the game. The Kongs must use Enguarde the Swordfish to defeat Barbos, as she is underwater in a red lake. She attacks by sending out Lurchins at Enguarde. Enguarde must smash the Lurchins into the spike balls of Barbos. Once Barbos's body is exposed as a result, Enguarde can smash her body. Barbos can also shoot out shell missiles, which Enguarde can lead to her to attack. After that, she sends spikes that Enguarde must avoid. | |
| Kroctopus (Game Boy Advance version only) | Kroctopus replaces Barbos in Razor Ridge in the Game Boy Advance version of the game. The Kongs cannot fight the submerged green creature; instead, they must lead the bombs Kroctopus sends out into the clawed tentacles. After being caught in the bombs several times, Kroctopus gets angrier and attacks faster; however, he can still be defeated the same way. | |
| Baron K. Roolenstein | The game's final boss, Baron K. Roolenstein, is fought in Kastle KAOS just shortly after KAOS is dispatched by the Kongs. Baron K. Roolenstein uses jetpacks to fly around using blasts of electricity to attack the Kongs. The Kongs need to pull a pipe on the ceiling to make a barrel appear. The barrel can then be thrown at Baron K. Roolenstein's jetpack several times to defeat him. He can also be fought again at Krematoa using a fireball launching cannon as well as bolts of electricity to battle the Kongs. He is fought in a similar way here. |
