It works quite easily.

If it was a game called metrud: other m and wfeatured a bounty hunter calles Samoose Arlan, and in every other way was identical, it would be a good game. It's existence ruins the character of Samus, and thus ruins all the previous metroid games, thus killing the series despite being a good game.

I am still confused here. You're saying the backbone of the franchise was Samus' character, and because she is not who you thought she was, this destroys the experience of all previous Metroid games, and future ones? But wait, if the series is dead then their would be no more Metroid games (or media). Are you saying there will never be another Metroid game again?

I would call a dead (or finished) franchise one that will never have any form of official continuation in the future. Your explanation has not confirmed anything of the sort, all it's done is further the notion that some fans are just upset because things aren't exactly what they seemed to be.

You're the type of person who gets really confused when an angry father says "I HAVE NO SON!!!"

I'm not personally saying anything, I was trying to explain what the bloodwalker was saying. I personally would not go as far as saying that it has killed the franchise, but I do think that it tarnishes Samus and the franchise to some degree.

I will likely buy the game when I get the time/money, but I shall have to pretend that it is a completely different franchise to the earlier metroid games

You're right, I wouldn't really understand people who would say something like that, because it's just incorrect. In this situation the boy is his son, and no amount of screaming will change that.

I too have yet to play the game. It may very well be as tarnishing to Samus' name as people say, I may hate it just as much as everybody else. As of now though I can't accept that Metroid: Other M has killed the franchise because little suggests that it has. Plus, in most games, story is not as important to me as the other essentials. So for someone to insinuate that a game, let alone an entire franchise is dead because a character was not portrayed how they expected just comes off as foolish to me.

Also, I would like to apologize if my previous post came out as a bit offensive towards you. I may have implied that you were among the upset fans which is not what I intended.

Previous metriod games we used our imaginations to fill in who Samus was. She was a solitary character alone and Isolated. Now she is taking orders from Adam?  That part of the game is beyond ridiculous.  She is burning and she has to wait for Adam to tell her to put on the suit?  If she went to the bathroom she would piss in her suit until adam told her to drop her pants?  How does this help make a better gaming experience? It wrecks the flow of the game, it is useless

So yes it does destroy it because it is a completely different character.

Metriod was built on a bad-ass isolated in alien worlds.  Finding upgrades and moving to new locations.

I can't believe some people can not see the difference.  But I'm glad you like the all new character.

Yes we did, and to be quite frank I'm rather pleased we know a bit more about Samus and her character. I didn't particularly fancy imagining what she could have been like, in fact I often wondered if we would ever get to know her a little more. You also haven't explained how Samus' character wrecks the flow of the game. You've just stated your unhappiness with Samus' interpretation.

Will you take back your words when they announce another Metroid game? Because you'd be wrong, you know.

I never viewed Samus as a bad-ass in the first place. Just as an individual i unfortunately knew little about.

The difference between what exactly? And what is not to believe, Surely you can't be surprised that there are those out there who disagree with you. Oh, and you don't have to be glad for me, I never even said I liked how Samus was portrayed in this game. All I wanted was clarification on how and why Metroid: Other M destroyed the franchise, which nobody has or ever will give, because it has not.

Frequent cutscens with BAD internal dialog.  That wrecks the flow of the game. And yes she was bad ass.

And having to wait for adam to basically save your life is dumb. I like my imagined Samus then this bad movie samus.

I never once wanted Sakamoto to show a back story.  It is indulgent and adds nothing to the gameplay because I play videogames not want to watch a z-grade movie. If that is what I wanted I would have a PS3

I'll accept that could very well be the case. Of course I am unsure of the degree it messes with the flow of the game, if at all. Don't begrudge me for not taking your word for it, but you believe the game has killed the entire franchise, so there's a good chance you're just angry and over exaggerating things here. I didn't say she wasn't a bad ass, I just said I didn't primarily view her that way. I think Mario is a bad ass, but he's many things before that.

Fine. If that's how you feel.

Yes well unfortunately for you Sakamoto wanted to show a back-story. You are starting to wear on my nerves now, drop the idiotic notion that story adds nothing to gameplay and cut scenes ruin the flow of all games, it's not cool, and do not insinuate that the PS3 only has games with bad stories because now you're borderline trolling. Go outside and let off some steam or something.

How technical is your game?

No. I am almost finished with the game and while I dislike one part (obvious breakdown) the rest of the game still fits just fine. There is no reason a woman cannot be feminine and a strong warrior at the same time. To state otherwise is really just sexism in my opinion.

I don't think femininity is the problem being discussed, here, but weakness and subservience.
