Forums - Sony - Different between Move and Wii?

Around the Network

A lot depends on what kind of games you want to play.

Each system has its established software at this point.

The Move controller is akin/a slight improvement over the Wii Remote with a Motion Plus (Sony usually only discusses the Wii Remote without the add-on that improves its tracking ability).  The video quality is improved (HD vs SD).

The biggest problem associated with Move is its cost for full-multiplayer set-ups (about $200).

Being an optional control scheme may provide it with both an opportunity (something that can be added into some games) as well its challenge (if I don't need it for the type of game I want, why buy it). Right now, it looks like the Move-required games are similar to experiences that can be had on the Wii.

Thus, to me, if you own a Wii and are happy, there is no reason to suddenly go out and drop a lot of money on a PS3. if you own a PS3, this might want to be something you explore. If you are just now buying a system, you want to look at what each system (including MS's 360/Kinect) offers or will offer soon and make a decision.

It's like this:

Move has all the sensors that a Wii Remote with a WiiMotion addon has.

In practice, that makes Move already more accurate, because even of the brand new Wii releases hardly any game supports WiiMotion , simply because it's an optional addon that most Wii owners don't own, and requiring WiiMotion would reduce the number of potential customers for your game a lot. The gyroscope that makes WiiMotion more accurate is however included in every Move controller, so there's no reason for developers not to use it.

In addition to the sensors found in the Wii Remote and the WiiMotion , the Move furthermore has a magnetic field sensor builtin, which further improves the accuracy. So even the Move controller alone is more accurate than a Wii Remote/WiiMotion combination.

But Move of course furthermore has the glowing bulb and the Playstation Eye, which are used for calculating the exact 3D position of the controller in the room, which is something the Wii doesn't support at all.

I am actually a bit depressed about the Move.

I thought it would realize motion gaming with no delays...

But then I tested it the first time , the lag was unacceptable for me...

This is interesting.

When did you test it? I haven't heard about any lag.

Wii remote is more for casual gamers

PSmove is for all gamers

samething for all their software

You guys have all got it wrong!

The difference is in the games.

The Wii has games.

Thats the difference.

Strange indeed, I've had Move since 15th and there is no noticable lag vs a normal controller except in a couple of cases which are game not tech related - i.e. the software isn't too well tuned.  I mean, all controllers have lag, TVs introduce lag.  It's about getting it down to a level it doesn't impede play, which Move certainly accomplishes.

On the higher levels of Table Tennis, for example, it's amazing how good you have to be and really make all the shots properly, use spin, etc.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

move controller feel way way better to use than wiimote, i mean way better

accuracy in start the party and sports champions is much better than any wii game.

only thing i didnt like on move, is the move started when you use the cam the wires are to stiff and its difficult to set up right, ive had to tape it down at the mo.

and i hope noone buys the shoot, it is absolutel garbage

Games.

Also accuracy and camera, but mainly games. Oh, and with games, hardware, and with hardware, graphics.

Games, graphics, accuracy, camera. In that order.
