I don't like it very much, often they turn out to be souless.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

I dislike it most of the time, DQ IX which I'm playing at the moment, would be better IMO if you had pre-set characters each with their own intricate back stories

It all depends on the type of rpg your playing.

Doesn't matter, just wanna play the freaking game!

Above: still the best game of the year.

I don't care for making my own character.

I haven't exactly played a game where I'm forced to do so, though.

For me character creation is a must in wrpgs that I play since the presets characters tend to be less colorful compared to jrpg counter parts. Don't throw realism at me, Dragon age didn't appeal to me that much (although I completed the game) since the characters have just too much "real life" air going on. So I have to be able to create a character to fit that style. (Plus I play the game to escape from realism I don't need my party members to have personalities similar to that of my real life friends.) I guess this could be the reason Oblivion is the best wrpgs for me, complete freedom and a sense of solitude which makes me feel more immersed in the fantasy world around me.

I despise character creation in jrpgs since I play jrpgs for the main reason of interacting with those sterotypical set of characters that they usually have. Most jrpgs came of fairly weak (no offense, I'm still a fan of both gnere of rpgs) this generation but I have to admit I somewhat enjoyed watching Lightning being a bitch that she is and Hope groaning and moaning like a little emo.

Edit: Plus I don't like this false sense of role-playing with custom character since in the end you're just following a story that someone else wrote.

Intel core i7 930 OC @ 4.0 ghz

XFX Double dissipation Radeon HD 7950 356 bit 3gb GDDR5 OC @ 1150 MHz core + 1575 x 4 memory

Triple channel DDR 3 12gb RAM 1600 MHz

Not important at all. I spent about 20 seconds making my character in Fallout 3 because I knew they were going to be ugly no matter what. And since now I'm rocking T51-b winterized power armor, it's not like I even see the character I made anyways.
