Double post. Stupid VGC 5.0!!

Umm...we are on VGC 3.0...

@ OP

I can't talk about KEY...It's way too cute. In fact, I think if I play it and beat the game, I will gain my virginity back.

Long story. check out this thread: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=116099&page=1#

It should do respectable, like 2-3 million, but it won't be a mega hit like NSMB Wii or DKC. While people love their 2D platformers, Kirby is somewhat of a lesser known franchise and this game in particular looks a little quirkier an tougher for the average consumer to get into. It will be more of the "hardcore" time of platformer despite its cutesy look, similar to Yoshi's Island.

I think 2-3 million. It's been a while since there's been a console Kirby and he's done well for himself on DS so maybe we will be pleasently surprised. It looks like it deserves twice that though to me. The joy of being able to kirby-form into a firetruck should count for millions if there was any justice in the world.

The game is obviuosly designed for small children. That part were you wake up a bear reminds me of a song I used to sing when I was about 3 years old about a sleeping bear. I can imagine lots of adults with Wiis buying this for their children, becasue since you can't die, it will be a very forgiving introduction to 2D platformers, and the multiplayer means they can play the game with their kids.

I LOVE ICELAND!

Sales, and how i think it will flop. Many predict that it will do well in Japan, and decently in America in the holidays (sorry EU it's too early for you!). Most say it's a guaranteed  million seller in japan, but i'm starting to doubt that. I don't even believe 1 mil is possible in japan with the way things are in COMGnet preorders numbers.

I say 1.5-2 mil across NA and japan LT. So who here disagrees? You think Kirby will be a breakthrough?

Wasn't WIi Party also off the radar in the COMG charts until the last week or so? And here it is already nearly at 1 million.

[added] I checked and that is indeed the case, Wii party started charting on COMG only a week or so before it came out in Japan... So there is still hope for Kirby (and any other Wii game not in COMG). The Wii crowd is simply much less into preordering than the PS360 crowd, and Japan is no different in that respect. [Added]

Currently Playing: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, Professor Layton and the Curious Village

Anticipating: Xenoblade, The Last Story, Mario Kart 7, Rayman Origins, Zelda SS, Crush3D, Tales of the Abyss 3DS, MGS:Snake Eater 3DS, RE:Revelations, Time Travellers, Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney, Luigi's Mansion 2, MH TriG, DQ Monsters, Heroes of Ruin

Yeah but Wii party has less tendency to be preordere... come on it would be nice for kirby to show :(

I hope it tops 2 million.

This is easily my most wanted game this year alongside LBP2.  Nothing else coming out or already released comes/came close.

I'd love to see an interview with Feel Good or some other NIntendo guys about how long the development process has taken, how this relates to Kirby GC, why they decided to go with the style they have, etc.

Kirby doesn't suck.

I think... just maybe this game might be the best selling kirby game ever. so im saying 5 - 6 million in the long run.
