And guess what VG Chartz is really close with this one.

Since its European debut in March 2010, as part of the Nintendo DS range, the Nintendo DSi XL has sold over 3.6 million* pieces of hardware globally, taking the total number of the Nintendo DS range of handheld systems to over 132 million** systems. In addition to the stylish wine red and dark brown systems still available in stores, players will be given a wider choice of colours to choose from, as yellow, green and blue join the offerings!

That would actually mean that we're overtracking it by a pretty significant amount. Like 2.5-3.5 million. Here's the full article.

Considering that Nintendo have that weird tracking thing for there hardware that tracks numbers sold exactly... We have it overtracked by close to 2 Million here.

Guys you really should know by that figures that are cited like this are always through the most recent quarter. Quarterly results generally arive in January (through Dec), late April - early May (through March), late July (through June), late Oct - early Nov (through Sept).

So there is a chance it may not pass Ps2?  Seeing as Sony said it has passed 146 million I think.  Eh, it'll probably pass anyway, still awhile before the 3DS.

3DS or not, with the price cut / Pokemon it should do 14m from July 2010 to Dec 2010 (the 132m figure is shipments through June 2010).

Nope, the DS will pass 146 million by the end of the year.
