Donkey Kong Country Returns - 5-7M
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword - 5-6M
Kirby's Epic Yarn - 2-3M
Epic Mickey - 500k-1M - For some reason I see this game bombing.
PS: Old Avatar BACK WOOT!

I wasn't unimpressed, but after Spirit Tracks I assume that Skyward Sword will have too much of an Aonuma touch and the delay to early 2011 isn't long enough to get rid of all that garbage. What I expect is a Zelda that gets the combat right, but is plagued by too many interruptions in the form of cutscenes and an overreliance on puzzles in the dungeons. |
Anouma is a game designer at Nintendo I presume?
What do you mean by "garbage"? Cutscenes and an abundance of puzzles?

Kirby's a much stronger franchise than given credit for - I think it can hit two million if it sells anything like previous serious Kirby games. Anyway. Zelda's hard to pin. The facto f WM being mandatory will end up hurting it like the expansion pack hurt Majora's Mask, but it should come in at 5 million after a couple of years. Won't match Twilight Princess or the first game in terms of units sold, but it won't have anything to do with quality (again, see Majora's Mask). Donkey Kong is even harder to pin. We haven't had a DKC in - what - 14 years or so? It's about time for a resurgence. I want to say 5.5 would be a solid number for it, but it could easily go higher. Epic Mickey is the real wildcard, though. It could do as low as 1.5 or as high as 4 million after a few years, and it might also have tremendous legs. It depends on who advertises it; if Nintendo advertises it, it will do well. If Disney advertises it, it will do phenomenally. |
Zelda has Wii motion plus mandatory?
I'm worried about Mickey's sales. People at least here on VGC seem to be apathetic towards this game. It's sad. I want it to sell because I respect both W. Spector and Mickey Mouse, apart from the fact that I think it looks atmospheric and fun to play.
Everyone expects Zelda:SS to disappoint in sales it seems
I will reveal my predictions after more research!
| Slimebeast said: I'm talking about Zelda Swords, Donkey Kong Country, Epic Mickey and Kirby Yarn of course. I'm thinking: Zelda Swords - 6 million Donkey Kong Country - 4 million Kirby Yarn - 2.5 million Epic Mickey - 1.3 million (will struggle to reach that number no matter how great I think it looks) I'll throw Metroid M in there too since it was just released. I believe 1.2 million. This realistic or am I too low? |
I think you're spot on.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword - 6 million
I think Zelda will do a bit better in Japan than Twilight Princess did and the added advantage of only one sku won't see the nurfed Wii sales.
Donkey Kong Country Returns - 5 million
I really see this one doing well. At least 2.5 to 3 million in the US, 1.5 million in Others, and 600k - 1 million in Japan. But this game could also suprise us and sell even more.
Kirby's Epic Yark - 2.5 million
I'm hoping it'll do even better than that. I see this doing 800k to 1 million in Japan.
Epic Mickey - 1.5 million

Yes. You should really do some research on these games before trying to make any predictions.
VGC's community is indicative of exactly nothing when it comes to wider buying trends.
Zelda Skyward Swords - 5 million
Donkey Kong Country Returns - 2.5 million
Kirby Epic Yarn - 2 million
Epic Mickey - 1.3 million

Yeah it is. If it's not impressed by a core game it won't sell.

1. You are lookingg at a sample size that is much too small to be representative of the general population.
2. Related to one, you are looking at a sample size which is heavily skewed away from the demographic to which Epic Mickey appeals.
3. You are ignoring games that VGC's community hates on but which sell fantastically, like Just Dance.
4. Core gamers are not necessary for a game to sell excellently.
