The video game industry needs to grow up. Not only is it the only industry I've ever heard of where developers blame customers for bad sales, but I agree with Lord, many developers tend to make plenty of assumtpions without actually doing any real research. Gaming Journalists can fall into the same category. It's like they're in their own little world and fail to see the mass of people in this world who don't fit their tiny circle of ideas.

That's precisely how Nintendo swooped up this generation with the Wii. At least someone was thinking.

This is actually part of the reason I got so upset here. It's all based on the notion of thinking they know better, and then blaming us for not proving they know better.

Plus I want to repeat that it might be possible that online matters more. I just don't like it assumed without proving it. Too much money is at stake for such an attitude.

You got upset for no reason, though. What I had said was splitscreen was never a focal point or selling point for a Call of Duty title, then you went all Mariah Carey on me. I never mentioned anything about the rest of the industry as you did. Call of Duty has always been about it's deep online multiplayer, ever since the 1st Call of Duty game in 2003, it was never about splitscreen and playing with your buddies in the same room. Activision has spent a LOT of money on online servers for Call of Duty. When you hear Call of Duty, the first thing you SHOULD think about is the deepest online multiplayer game you will ever play, not splitscreen.

I was being super nice to you in the beginning and even apologizing for offending you but you continuously got ruder and ruder. So I got ruder as well. Breathe and take it easy.

You missed the context. I was going off of viper's claim that online was no longer a big thing for FPS, even on the Wii. Did you think I meant just CoD specifically? If so, the arguments we had should be thrown out, as they were a major misscommunication for both of us.

Also, it's not a good idea to tell a customer (as my brother and I buy these games) what we should be associating the game with. I know you're not part of the developer, but if you want to help sell the game, you don't tell the customer how to feel about it. I learned that about my own work, even though I wasn't trying to actually sell it.

Finally, about the general online claim, I remember High Voltage saying they talked to customers and fans about what they felt was missing from The Conduit, and split screen was one of the main things they wanted. So there is a demand, even if on the Wii. Plus I remember split screen was also something that the Goldeneye developers said that their testing and focus groups insisted on.

Now if there are tech reasons to still leave it out of Black Ops on the Wii, okay (just that the tech reasons mean it shouldn't be on the other versions either). I'll defend to the death that Chop Till You Drop could not have had that many more zombies, especially when it was the first time they did something like that on the Wii, so it's only fair I concede that for this game as well. Just understand those that like split screen might help sell even more copies, and that should be considered for next time.

Dude, you're like THE troll over here. So basically what you're saying is that if tech limitations prevent the wii version from having split screen, then the PS360 version should not have split screen either ?  Why ?

The other 2 consoles are way more capable hardware wise. The engine may be the same, but it's  the hardware limitations that prevent the wii version from having split screen. With all the physics, explosions, etc happening at the same time, the wii hardware will have to burst into flames to handle all that.

CTYD used a heavily modified RE4 engine. Graphics wise the game sucked donkey balls. They reduced the graphics level to be able to fit all the zombies on screen. Plain and simple. Had Nintendo put some more RAM and GHZ's and a slightly better GPU, the wii may have gotten the split screen mode.

I am quite happy with my Wii. Could care less about graphics, but CTYD looks ridiculously bad.

So theoretically, we should be able to use this headset for any game that features voice chat, right?

Hopefully this helps push adoption for whatever Wii headset.  I'd like it for Monster Hunter 3G, Wii Speak is basically useless imo.

I've been out of the country for 3 months and had limited internet access... did I miss something?

The wii vesion of COD has exceeded expectations and over million sold each, but what stopped them from selling a trillion copies was the lack of content over the HD consoles..like the lack of modes, maps, special features etc. and never was because they didn't include split-screen.

That was ppl complaints then, now that black Ops comes fully loaded with features, modes, maps and specially with Zombie mode this time around, now the complaint is the lack of split-screen?  jeez!

I have to tend to agree with this.  Although I don't think it'll dramatically raise sales.  People would still rather have the pretty graphics, if they have multiple consoles.

I'm not a big FPS fan but it's nice to have one and CoD:BO just went from off my radar to serious consideration.    If it has patching and zombie mode and all the modes, etc of the HD versions then although I don't care for war games in general, I'll definitely consider getting this.

Split-screen would have pushed it into must have, but I can still get Goldeneye or Conduit 2 for local (and online) split-screen for when friends are over.

The reason stated was performance, so I was saying it should be taken out to ensure the best performance on the HD systems as well.

The reason stated was performance - but it was in regards to the wii version. The HD consoles are capable of pulling off the whole package.. They have more space, better hardware and usually a bigger budget.

No, because it was mentioned they are not immune to that problem either. So the games would still run even better if split screen was taken out entirely.
