Forums - Sales - TV market share, LG > Sony

your threads are quite repetitive, weren't you the one who started the samsung 3d tvs too.

yes almost everyone i know has either samsung or lg, they are cheaper and very good, sony tends to be more expensive. i have an lg. i still dont see the point of calling out on the small marketshare for sony in the tv market, it's not like they arent selling any.

well i guess thats expected from someone who's biased against sony.

the tvs have pretty good quality picture and the prices are starting to come down from what i've seen in stores. i do notice less variety in models from sony, the stores i visit tend to only have sony tvs from 40" up.

LG has more models and are cheaper, also the stores often do promotions to get rid of old models and thats how we got a 42" veeery cheap. the quality of the picture isnt inferior so it doesnt come as a surprise how well it sells.

LG kicks ass thats why i recently bought two of them i prefer LG more than sony ever since we entered the HDTV era

One of these LGs i bought had more features than the same class samsung and the samsung was $100 more these features included 1 more HDMI port and a composite port which the samsung didnt even have it aslo has a headpohone jack another thing the samsung was missing

i did in fact by both the samsung and LG to determine which was better b/c you cant really mess with them in the store much and noticed that the samsung had more ghosting on screen the LG had virtual none keep in mind these are the new line of LED tvs so i took it back and kept the LG

Sony cant same much negative bout there performance but they lost features they had in SDTV days

                                                                      Play Me

My laptop is Toshiba , my Home Tv is an LCD FULL HD from LG 42" and my TFT where i play on 360 at 720p is Asus 19".

My Family members all have Samsung products.

So not surprising this numbers and the trend will continue.

I don't think I've ever actually seen an LG TV.

Which markets are they big in?

are you serious?

take a trip comet, currys, tesco or anywhere actually.

I was just about to say the same thing. Maybe he needs to look around rather than heading straight for the Sony section...

Look around rather than heading to the Sony section...?

There are 4 Samsung TV's in my house. And no Sony TV's. So what the hell are you talking about?

@kowen
Not been TV shopping for a loooooong time. But what I really mean is, I don't see them in people's houses at all. I've never actually seen someone own a LG TV.

I'm actually quite surprised too because I've read/heard so many conflicting things about LG tvs. Since Pioneer got out of the tv making business Panasonic is supposed to be using the same tech that was in the highly touted Kuros. Panny did take a hit with the black rising fiasco with last year's plasmas but I've always likes Panny. I think once they start to fully grasp and implement the Kuro tech (2011, 2012) that they will be hard to beat in terms of all around picture quality for the price. Still and all though flat panels are getting nicer and nicer, lucky us.

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

I have 1 Sony and 2 samsung TVs. The samsungs were cheaper, better looking (subjective). More features, and better picture quality.

Of Course Sony TVs aren't bad, they are just overpriced for what they offer.

LG is very small in Germany compared to Samsung (obviously) Sony and Panasonic. It is on Sharp levels, maybe even smaller.

So I was very surprised to see how big they are worldwide.

I don't know anybody with a LG TV so I can't say anything about the quality.

LG used to be bigger in Germany, when they were still called "Goldstar" they sold low price TV's at Aldi and Mail order companies like Quelle and Otto.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Makes sense.  The best image quality I've always seen between comparable sets is always Panasonic or Sony but Samsung and LG are damn close and cheaper to boot.

The difference is negligible.  Sony arent any better than the others imo. Panasonic do offer some better sets as do Philips.

Doesn't 'damn close' imply negligable?  At the higher price end though you do start to see Sony and Panasonic pull more clearly ahead, particularly Panasonic IMHO.  Philips are also good but weren't in the four mentioned in th OP hence I didn't bother mentioning them either.

Kow, why if there is the remotest hint someone might be saying something from Sony is a bit better than something else are you always on it?  Can't be good for your blood pressure.

Some people enjoy cheap entertainment. That few seconds of making stupid comment is fun.  Good comparison: Samsung LCD TV to Sony LED. Wow. Perhaps they should be the same price?

The very strong Yen has meant Japanese companies cant compete with South Korean ones on price so obviously they've lost marketshare. Not rocket science for most.
