Forums - Sony - Irem Unveils Disaster Report for PS3

The recent rumors of a new Disaster Report game have proven true. Famitsu has a first look this week at Disaster Report 4.

The Disaster Report series is known in Japanese as Zettai Zetsumei Toshi. The first two entries were on the PS2, with the most recent entry appearing on PSP.

Part 4 is fully titled Zettai Zetsumei Toshi 4: Summer Memories. The game takes place in a big city in the year 201X. It's July, the heart of summer, and your character is visiting the city for a job interview. The city is suddenly hit with a major earthquake.

Your goal is to escape the destroyed city, finding safe paths through collapsing buildings and dealing with panicked and fleeing people.

The game will feature over 60 characters, the largest in series history. You'll need to work with these people to escape.

There are a few new features Irem highlights for Disaster Report 4:

  • You can enter collapsed buildings, within which you'll find survivors and additional escape routes.
  • You'll find new items, including crutches for when your legs are injured.
  • The game has a new "cleanliness" parameter for your character. If your character gets too dirty, your stress will rise. To increase your cleanliness parameter, you need to...
  • Use the toilet!. This is a new facility for Disaster Report 4. You can use the toilet to increase your cleanliness parameter

You're free to customize your character. At the start of the game, you can set gender, face style, and hair style. As you work through the game, you'll earn over 100 clothing items, including suits and casual outfits.

Irem is known for being pretty ambitious with its Disaster Report games, and the new PS3 Disaster Report 4 seems to follow the tradition. Famitsu's information box lists 3D, Move and 5.1 support for the game.

Disaster Report 4 will hit PS3 this Winter.

......I don't know how I should take this news...never heard of this series in my life....

True Story: I thought this was going to be another random doom and gloom financials report by some unknown blog looking for hits.

But uh... yeah. Interesting news.

Character customization!!!

This game will now score 9's and 10's across the board in the West.

How many copies did the other games sell? >500k?

This game suddenly topples I am Alive as my most anticipated disaster-em up on the grounds that it's not vapourware (yet)

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Move and 3D support confirmed

Don't think most of the series has made it to the west so far, so fingers crossed. But sony is brining it on alright. And I haven't even posted all the info about their games from Famitsu yet :P

Disaster Report had another name which is 'Raw danger'. I liked Raw danger cuz it has some cool ideas and a nice unique gameplay.

Disaster Report and Raw Danger are actually two different games, the localized versions of the first and second games in the series.  I enjoyed both of them, but they sold terribly in North America.  The third game, which was for PSP, did not leave Japan and I doubt this will either.  I`m surprised they are making another one at all, especially for an HD console, seeing the low sales for all previous versions.

Even so, I`ll be interested to see how it turns out!  The PS2 games are worth checking out, if you can find them...

Hates Nomura.

If they add Zombies they'll have a huge hit on their hands.
