Oh, and if we want to talk about greedy, we should remember that:

- MS does online advertising in Xbox Live, despite the fact that it's a paid service
- People are already paying for the games, which on any other platform entitles you to play online
- Many (almost all?) of the games are actually played by P2P connections, requiring few or zero servers at Microsoft.

If it provides something so I wouldn't have to go through the laughably ridiculous hoops and ladders your sig indicates, then I'm for it all the way. By the way, moving past the two or three ads on the dashboard requires moving the left thumbstick with your thumb. Oh the humanity!

I would love to hear your defense against the PS3, or even better, the PC.

Also I can;t help but laugh at your sorry defense for advertisment.

I don't give a flying crap about the PS3 or the PC. I will never buy a PS3 and haven't played a PC game since Need for Speed Hot Pursuit. How's that for a defense? And I don't give a flip about ads either, when all I have to do is move the thumbstick, and poof, they're gone.

My, what a shining example for the model consumer you are. You should honestly become a spokesperson for coroporations.

Anytime. If the PS3 or PC had titles I was interested in that I could only play on either of those platforms, I'd have bought them already. But they don't, and I haven't, so I don't really care what their online is like. That being said, I don't know anybody in real life who has a PS3 or a gaming PC, so I'd miss out on that as well if I did have either of those platforms.

You know, I can only think of 5 big games which are truly exclusive to the 360. In fact in your wishlist there is only 1 game which is exclusive to the 360. But this is a whole different discussion for another thread.

The point is, as I said above, that corporations would LOVE if every consumer was so happy and willing to just bend over and take a broomstick up their asses as you are.

I do find it weird that people are actually defending this when PS3, Wii and PC all have the ability to play online for free.

In the case of PC the service it offers is actually better, especially where it counts as nearly all PC games have dedicated servers, mods and services like Steam offer the extra features of Live anyway.

I find it funny when people who don't use the 360 or Live comment on a service they have never used.

I have a 360 and I have a Silver account because I saw nothing of value in the Gold service that I wasn't getting elsewhere for free. If I was a big Halo fan that might be different, but as I mainly play CoD and L4D, the PC seems like the better option with dedicated servers (not including MW2) and mods.

Out of interest, what is it about Live over other services that makes it worth paying? Is it just the exclusives or am I missing something?

I guess Microsoft is going to be happy then, because we'll all (as per you) be taking it up the asses because hardly anyone will cut off their subscription due to this. So tell me, why can't I spend my own money to have fun without being lectured by you guys on how wrong I am for doing so?

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

Because you actually count LIVE as a plus to a 360 instead of a very big con.

Yeesh, quite a few people have been getting bans from this thread for trolling. Let's make sure that's kept reigned in.

Anyway, topic itself. Am I happy about it? No. Am I blaming them for it? Also no. It's been almost 10 years since XBL was launched. In that time, $50 has become worth significantly less. In fact, $50 in 2002 is worth... $59.28 in 2009. (Source: http://www.westegg.com/inflation/ ) All this does is brings the price back in line with what it cost at launch. Except now, you can stock up for a few years for the lower price. I'm... not really seeing a problem with this...

@ Mods

Can put the following in my sig?

I happily take "it" up the ass from MS.

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

Lol they only increased the price in the markets where they were absolut sure that the customers would accept an even higher price.

I hope for all the Xbox Live user that there will never be a time were Sony drops out of the market and MS has the whole core market and a monopol on core online gaming. Because then they could charge everything.

But I think chances are that online gaming will also cost with Sony a lot if they rule the market. Now Sony uses the no online gaming fee against MS and MS wouldnt dare to make a huge increase like 100 Dollar per year because they would loose customers to Sony.

Eventually if Nintendo is finally able to make the right Hardware for both markets core and casual maybe they will build up a comparable service to PSN and Xbox Live and wont charge for online gaming because they print money anyway.

yeah well it should be free anyways....

OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO

Some people in this thread sit here and say "Why do Nintendo fans care?", "Why do the Sony fans care?" and then at the same time say "Well they better get used to it because it is going to be like this for everyone next gen".

Well, who do you think we get to blame if that happens?

This is why they care.

Miyamoto has already mentioned it.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Got a retro room? Post it here!

Just my 2 cents on this topic.

I don't care whether you find the $60 justifable or not. I don't care whether you're happy to pay $60 or even higher for XBL.

The fact is, the price has been increased and no matter what, increasing prices is never a good thing.

Let's just take an example. Let's say you're in love with an Subscription Based MMO and you've been happy with a $20 per month subscription and then one day it get's increased to $30 per month. Now sure you may not even care whether it's $50 per month or something or don't mind a increase in price, but you can't say it's a good thing.

If Sony wants us to pay $50 per year for PSN for the PS4, then I'd do it. But if one day they decided to increase it to $60 per year, I'd still do it but I definitely would not be happy or think that $60 for PSN is justifiable and hence find it a positive thing.

That is all I have to say about this.
