Forums - Gaming Discussion - What console this generation will be home for 90% of the markets RPG's?

Well there's more JRPG than WRPG and since Wii all but owns Japan, I would have to think Wii will end up with the majority, but X360 will have the majority of WRPG (exclusives like 3 Mass Effects and Fable 2 will help with that).
I think PS3 will get some great high end JRPGs and multi-console WRPG so for RPG lovers all systems will have some great offerings.

So does this mean I can say Kingdom Hearts 3 Wii?

KINGDUM HARTZ 3 WE!

Is Warhammer coming to 360, and if so why in god's name would you want to play it on a console? No 3rd party tools, nowhere near enough buttons, etc. Those 360 guys are gonna get corpse camped like tears of anger are going out of style

I think the real answer to this is going to come towards the middle of 2008, seeing which console has the most RPG announcements. Console muscle will not play too much of a role so that negates a PS3/360 advantage, nor will control when it comes to turn based stuff so there goes Wii's advantage.

But since this is a prediction thread, I'll say PC. RPGs are one of those games PC does incredibly well, especially the MMO variety.

So what do you guys think will be the system this generation that gets 90% of the all the markets RPG's? The DS has been tearing it up on the handheld side.

I don't think we will have any console this generation have 90% of RPGs,, the Wii will be far and away the winner, but 3rd parties seem to denigrate the wii at every given opportunity..

multiplatform is fine WoW, and Blue Dragon 2 is confirmed in development. Other than that, lets not list Mass Effect 2 and 3. Games that start as a trilogy don't necessarily end as a trilogy. Xenosaga, wave to your fans (It was supposed to be 6 games and ended after 3).

Answer to thread: DS.

Home consoles: None. Each market is split enough that no clear winner emerges. RPGs are known for big graphics and huge development costs

The Wii can't handle the graphics (more accurately, fanboys will whine about it being SD graphics  with no hard drive)

The 360 has too little Japanese Market penetration. Sure there will be many Western RPGs, but without Japan the 360 is missing too much.

The PS3 can handle the graphics and has the room for the data but console sales are too low (compared to the other two) to easily choose it.

RPG developers no longer have the "well duh!" console to work on. Each home console has its tradeoffs.

Edit: Read the wrong question at first, lol.

There is no such thing as a console war. This is the first step to game design.
