I'm sure it will surpass all modest expectations, doubtless. This will probably be the fastest selling game hardware of all time, but it won't sell 30 million in a year, lol, and if anything has ever done that, then I would be shocked.

I thought the DS itself had sold 30 million in a year before. I don't see the 3DS selling 20 million it's first year out because I don't think it's going to launch in all territories simultaneously. I think it'll hit Japan and Europe probably 3 months or so before it launches in the U.S.

I changed my prediction (I was unsure whether I should produce an annual or quarterly prediction, I chose quarterly and quickly edited afterwards ). If the 3DS is not being produced now then roughly 13m but if it has been mass produced since spring 2010 then over 20m is possible, baring in mind that Q1 for Japan may not take place at the same time as Q1 in the Americas for example. I am not referring to sales in 2011, the first four quarters of each region.

Remember too that we may very well run into hardware constraints again, though perhaps Nintendo is better prepared this time.

I mean that it will outpace any other system before it, starting at launch. :P

The 3DS will have the recession and the fact that people already have DS systems and are happy with them against it.

However, it will probably have the best launch line-up of all time (even without a 2D mario).

So its sales are very hard to predict.

According VGChartz the DS surpassed 30m in sales during 2008. Also my prediction is an optimistic 23m.

Color me shocked. :O

So is there any solid info on 3ds yet? Price, specs?
