Microsoft, and history.. and I wouldn't be suprised

Am i the crazy one who thinks it peaked in 2009? I see it falling behind last years amazing end of the year numbers from the slim release. 2010 numbers will be close to 2009 but i don't think it will beat it.
I'd say 2010 for now, maybe 2011 if it carries with momentum and gets the pricecut to $199.
2011 with price cuts... or maybe 2012 with future huge news.
2010. By the time it reaches $199 it will be on it's final price stage and headed out of the generation. They simply won't be able to reduce costs much more from this point on. A few more die shrinks at best and some very slight shrinking of the overall packaging will get them to $199 by 2012 I'd say. Then if the PS3 continues to sell after next gen starts it may drop to $149 by 2013 and $129 by 2014. I can't see it ever going below that, though, and maybe not even below $149.
It started out costing about 2x as much as a PS2 did when the PS2 launched, and as such it will end at a higher price point than the PS2 was able to reach. My best bet would be that $149-199 will be the lowest the PS3 gets to (especially if they decide to bundle Move with every PS3 at some point).

so you expect nexgen between 2011 and 2012 then? Even though microosft has stated KINECT is going to add another half a gen to the 360, and sony has stated they aren't launching a console until Nintnedo and Microsoft have launched their next consoles?
Honestly the only console maker that I see bringing out a new system within the next couple of years is nintendo, and they don't release consoles at the same time as handhelds, so I suspect a 2012 nintendo system is probable, but the other too im not too sure, by then surely the ps3 would be $199..

I voted 2011
