Everything in this thread is a complete rip off of what Stickball did, but I think it's a good idea to do one of these for every system and handheld. So, make your nominations for each category below.

Edit: I've added the category "Platformer" so that MP3 and SMG can be put in more proper genres. I have also add best party game and best sports game categories. Please edit your responses to match this.

Why are ppl saying Metroid Prime for shooter of the year?
because it's in first person, and you shoot things.

I think he was being sarcastic because so many argued that it's not a FPS but a FPA.   But yeah, you're right.

For the record, I think this is too early for yearly awards. Unlike pro gaming sites and mags, we probably haven't been able to play all of the games that we want this year. Worthy games like Galaxy, Fire Emblem, Z&W, Umbrella Chronicles, and some others haven't been out that long. With the rush of games in the last few months of the year, it's hard for the average person to afford and play all of them, then give a decent voting in these categories. Nights hasn't even been released yet, and won't be eligible next year...so maybe something like this should wait until January.

Letdown of the Year: Super Paper Mario. By no means a bad game, but I was extremely disappointed with this game and how fast it went from "OMG THIS IS SO FUN" to "Ehh...."....I still haven't beat it.

Yeah, it's Super Mario Galaxy, the best game of the year.
