Forums - Sony - The PS3 has already caught up to and passed the 360 sales!

A better way to view it would be this:

PS3 and 360 are two racing cars, when the green flag was waving, 360 had a fantastic start, and PS3 had engine troubles, so it lagged behind from the start. It's trying to catch up but the attempt seems to be futile.

In the meanwhile, Wii has already finished the race ages ago, so it doesn't really matter who crosses the finish line second anyway.

I guess when I look up Epic Fail, the picture I see in the definition is of the OP.

Ah, for crying out glavin...

I guess VGChartz is wrong then, does ioi know that he is wrong? how much longer will the PS3 continue to outsell the 360?

Wait a minute... the 360 still has a 5 million lead, and its outselling the PS3 for the last month or so? Weird...

The real world doesnt count like this.

I love all the posts saying 'when will PS3 catch up to 360?' Imagine 2 cars in a 4 lap car race, and the 360 car gets a 1 lap head start. People are saying the 360 is ahead? Right! Well, to even things out, lets factor in that extra 'lap' of sales, 5.9 million xbox360's in it's first year. You can either minus that from the total 360 sales (42 m) or add it to the PS3 sales (36.6m) to nullify that head start, either way PS3 is ahead, 36m for 360 vs 36.6m for PS3, or 42m 360 vs 42.6m PS3. When a race has staggered starting of the contestants, you don't look at who's nearest the finish line, but their distance/time for the race so far.

So by your logic the 360 will soon catch up to and pass the PS2 and the Wii has already passed it?  Is that really the kind of logic you're trying to argue?

LOL. People can't see things they don't want to see, the above is a prime example. The PS3 wasn't on the starting line when 360 decided to start the race. There was no 'engine trouble', their car hadn't even been built yet, let alone shipped out to the race track, What if the 360 came out 2 years earlier than the PS3, or even 5 years earlier, would you consider this or just continue to say it's a race that somehow 360 is winning? Of course you would!

I just started this post for kicks, who cares anyway, they are just game consoles. But it is interesting to see how people react, how 360 fanboys will just discount the facts and say things like 'epic fail because I have no pic, or the last month 360 has been selling faster, ignoring the previous 4 months PS3 was selling better. And no, the 360 won't overtake the PS2 by my logic, there will be a new xbox out well before 10 'laps' and the PS2's race still isn't over, but you know that.

Uh, did you even read the OP? The 360 has a 5 million lead, but sold 5.6 million before the PS3 was even released! Get it?

You guys that said this is a wasted post, your right! But fun to argue.

And my, even better way to view it would be this:

Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo are all in a console race.  Sega crashed and a yellow flag went up.  Sony and Nintendo took a pit stop while Microsoft, having taken a pit stop already, kept going.  When the green flag went out, Microsoft was a lap ahead.  Nintendo has the fastest car, and it quickly and easily took first place from Microsoft.  Sony's car is just a little bit faster than Microsoft's and is slowly catching up, though Microsoft is known for pulling away a bit when it gets to the corners.  The race isn't over yet.

No, the 360 started the race a lap before, and the PS3 has been getting closer but hasn't recovered from its slow start

But tell me this: how can a console be racing laps with corners and all?
