Sorry to be a killjoy but we're really heavily overtracking ME2. Bioware said they had sold 1.6 million between 360, retail PC, and Steam downloads back in May I think. That's sell-through, they said they had shipped 2 million after first week.

Look up the numbers from VGC, NPD, Chart Track and you'll find out that something is not right.

EDIT: I'm not saying that our numbers are 100% correct, but NPD basically confirmed 1 million sales in the US at the time EA made that 1.6m statement. Between 100k and 200k in UK is also confirmed, so it COULD be a bit overtracked in Europe, but not much more than maybe 100k.

Or the PC version bombed incredibly hard which I don't believe either.

Again, Wii being down like this is NORMAL. It is on its fourth year and is going through a slow period during the summer where many people are outside enjoying the weather. What is Abnormal is the 360 being way up, which is the result of a new model.

So is a console thats way more expensive and is up YOY by a comfortable margin as opposed to the wii thats going to start to be down quite sharply from now on.

That said i also dont think wii sales are bad, they are pretty good, only that the HD consoles are starting to pick up steam, and are  still at a high price, witch means when they get price cuts they will rise there sales some 15% to 20% again,  while wii is deflating fast and with nintendo focusing more and more on 3DS, next year wii maybe  in big trouble

No it won't, we have the DS for that. Wii will defitnetly outsell Ps1 that's for sure.

Ouch, hurts seeing the Wii in third! Though it really is a mix of the HD consoles also doing much better than last year.

Seeing Starcraft 2, a PC game at the top of the charts makes it all better though! 


As for the Wii being doomed, I still don't necessarily think so. People looking at these weekly charts tend to really overreact over these weekly skirmishes, but I can't stress enough how this still tells us nothing about the longevity of the consoles. Hell, I'll (once again) point to the PS2 in the US, as NPD had it:

2001: (7.4m)
2002: 8.42m (15.8m) <- $100 May price cut ($200)
2003: 6.32m (22.2m) <- $20 May price cut ($180)
2004: 4.63m (26.8m) <- $30 May price cut ($150), Slim model Sept, shortages
2005: 5.44m (32.3m)
2006: 4.70m (37.1m) <- $20 April price cut ($130)
2007: 3.97m (41.1m) <- Slim 2
2008: 2.50m (43.6m) <- Slim 3
2009: 1.80m (44.4m) <- $30 April price cut ($99)

These forums would've constantly called doom on this console, as it was down on years with constant price cuts, yet it never quit selling (see: 2005-2007).

As long as the Wii can hold up well in the holiday period (when all its games hit), it'll be fine.

Thanks for summarizing my thoughts in one post. Next time i'll avoid sales discussion to not witness overreactions like the ones on this thread, but it was defitnetly expected since the ps3 has been in 3rd for such a long long time though.
