Forums - General - Is 3D already dying?

i don't know about you, but i'll not buy a 3DTV when the content that should make me buy it's a Kid's Movie...if you want the 3D to succeed, then you've to bring adult content to the table, and i'm not talking exactly about porn...though it'd be great xD

i'm not going to link anything but their will be plenty of 3D porn, don't you worry.

I doubt it's dead, but people were really excited about it and hense the bump at the start. As long as there are good movies to see in 3D, people will go to see it.

So far, I've not been all that impressed, with a couple of notable exceptions. But it will get better.

I'm mad that Inception wasn't in 3D...

Needs more blockbusters.

indeed, inception in 3D could be awesome.

@Kowenicki, yeah it could be a distraction, but in Avatar and even Clash of the titans the 3D was a great addition to the movie...i don't about you, but Batman 3 HAS TO BE IN 3D! at least for me xD i'd love to see that happen.

Well 3D certainly isn't enough to save crappy movies. And not every movie uses 3D as good as Avatar did. Most of them treat it like some gimmick.

3D is not dying.

But I do think that it will fail in the mainstream.  3D movie and TV watching is more of a novelty you do every few months. Its not something that anyone will want to do every day.

3D gaming however may fare a lot better with gamers... but so far PS3 has not given us any reasons to bother. I got to see Wipeout and Stardust HD in 3D and both are rather poor attempts at 3D gaming compared to what is being done on the PC.

For gamers, PC 3D gaming is where its at, but its bloody expensive...however it is expanding every day. More products are coming out (asus 27 inch 3d monitor, many sub 1000 dollar 3d projectors), more content(PGA tour in 3D, 3d bluray movies, 100s of downloadable movies INCLUDING PORN), more games (Mafia 2, Kane and lynch are both 3D certified on PC)...etc.

Look at the decrease in time between each 3D movie's release. This graph could just be showing that we now have more 3D movies competing for the same number of 3D screens.

If we wanted to determine if 3D film was really 'dying', we should be looking at total revenue earned by all 3D movies over time, and see whether or not that is increasing or decreasing.

We all know the remedy!

THE STAR WARS SAGA MUST BE RE-RELEASED IN 3D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
