MS stopped production of the arcades and elites awhile ago. I would go as far as to say all reduced priced model arcades are sold out therefore maybe a few elites and the new 360s models are the only ones available. New slim arcade model hits stores this month but I don't know when.

In three years this generation won't matter becuase it will be last gen while we all have moved on to the next gen. If Sony can't outsell the Xbox 360 before the next gen starts they will have lost. Nobody cares anymore about PS2 even though it's still selling. One thing is for sure, as far as sales are conserned, the PS3 is no PS2 and therefore won't have legs it's longer brother had.

The console war is a race with a finish line, once someone crosses the line the race is over.

I do want to add that the PS3 is not a failure even if it loses the HD war when the next war starts. It's just that Sony fans are so used to be in 1st place with the PS2/PS1 and getting everything first/exclusive, that being in third place is difficult to accept. Great games should be enough and it's not like Sony is going to go out of business or not make a PS4. It just means that Microsoft is here to stay and next generation will be even more competitive. This gen has proven that three consoles can thrive together so we all better get used to it becuase next gen will be similar.

Why do I bring this up?  What was the launch date of Halo 3?  September 25th 2007 - so really LESS consoles sold during the previous 3 months and 1 month after the launch of Halo 3 than a year later :P

I laugh at anyone that says Reach will move more consoles than GT5.  Don't get me wrong, but seriously, use your head.  I don't know why anyone sticks up for a console this much.  I have all of this gen's systems and I like them all for different reasons.

But yeah, I know I will get the obligatory "But everyone bought a 360 more than 3 months before the launch of Halo 3"

You people need to get your facts straight.  The gap between the 360 and the PS3 for all intents and purposes is still huge.  The PS3 got a huge bump by simultaneously offering a huge price reduction and the PS3 slim.  It was selling well and has now started to trail off a bit.  The 360 has received a bump for introducing its slim version.  As of now, I see no data that delineates to me that the PS3 will eventually overtake the 360.  The only thing that I can see is that Sony machines seem to sell into their tenth year--MS will probably introduce a new unit long before the PS3 stops selling and maybe then the PS3 might overtake the 360--but I doubt it will happen while both are current gen.  Do you guys ever get tired of being 12 year old fanboys, trolls and ignoramuses?

Also a little game called Gears of War 2 was released in November as well.

Reach is going to sell more 360s in America than GT5 sells PS3s. GT5 will sell more PS3s in the other regions. Its going to be a wash.

You might also know that the 360 had a price cut in 2008 (noted in another post) and also a game called Gears of War 2 released which sold consoles.

I love people like you. You make a post saying how people need to get their facts straight, and yet nothing in your post actually refutes what the op said. You don't quote any of his numbers and use any numbers to refute them. At this point, seeing as the gap is as close as it's ever been, I don't see how the PS3 won't overtake the 360. Especially after this Christmas, Sony has a couple more price cuts coming along, and was still selling on par with the 360 when it had its $200 model out. That should tell you something.

Yeah this is something i'm worried about. not even MW2 or GTA4 have sold 10 mil on the PS3. and i find it hard to believe GT5 will do it, about 8 mil i think. i'm hoping i'm so wrong and GT5 hits 15 mil, but it dosent seem likely to me. personally i think it will be another game, not GT5, not LBP2, not Killzone 3 that will change everything. we just dont know it yet. hopefully it comes soon though!!
