Nope. I don't believe in this story anymore.
It will likely be better. If the SuperWii (Wii's like the NES, right?) has any middle-ground for 3rd parties like the 3DS has, and if the publishers are on-board much earlier this time around (the major reason Wii's support lacked was because most devs were already focused on the HD system), then the support should generally be better. Either way, publisher's will probably be on board for the beginning, because the last two Nintendo systems (Wii and DS) were veritable goldmines and they'll kick themselves if they miss out on that again.
Eh, I'm not really a fan of third party support when it comes to Nintendo. Nintendo knows how to make the best games for their consoles.
Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.
Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash
Depends.
We just need to remember the massive support 3DS is getting doesn't mean Wii 2 will get the same support because NDS's competitor, PSP...is terrible at selling software.
So devs thought 3DS would be the safe bet (hell we don't know this yet as a PSP2 hasn't been announced, and its software lineup hasn't been announced either)
But Wii's competitor's.....PS360 are seen as excellent software sellers. So will devs really want to jump ship?

Well when only about half are making money on them, and the big sellers are few, the problem is the developers' perceptions in the face of reality.

While I do feel the next Nintendo console will have better third party support, I feel this new console will still have far less third party support than the other two systems. The only reason third parties have really been lining up behind the 3DS is because this generation Nintendo has proven that there handheld system sells far more hardware and software than any of its competitors. Ultimately, Nintendo's first party software will sell the system and not any third party offerings.
In my opinion, No way in hell. Given what Nintendo's track record is.
Quick, when is the last time Nintendo got equivalent or great Third Party support? To me that was the SNES generation.
I just don't see Nintendo breaking the bank to make a competitive console in power. And (If they aren't in the 'porting loop' as another poster mentioned) then they will lose out on a ton of third party games between the HD based consoles. Beyond that, I think third parties shy away from Nintendo products because of what I call the 'Mario clout'. They just don't sell as well because Nintendo first party really steals the spotlight.
| CGI-Quality said: Well, it all depends on the console, the market reception to the console, and Nintendo's effort themselves. Without any of those, the 3rd party support could swing in either direction, but likely in the one that rhymes with "clown". Point is, we can't say what the 3rd party support for an upcoming console will be like until that said console has at least made some sort of appearance. I mean think about it, nobody would have thought pre-PS3 release that Sony would have tarnished as many chances with 3rd Parties as they initially did this gen considering the PS2's success, right? It's a wait and see game at this point. |
dito, but they also proved that they don't need 3rd party support. something Sony and MS can't claim.
i still don't understand why everybody/gamers are trying to cut this gen short? focus on 2014. Nintendo is still making money on Wii and the chance/possibility of Wii being dead in 2yr's isn't there. focus on what the crafty Nintendo has planed and not Wii2 2011. I'll tell you now it's not going to happen.
new consoles in 2014 is more logical then any other yr.
Nintendo Wii is still strong so don't bet on a Wii2 happening in 2011. bet against it!

The sooner this gen is over, the sooner Wii haters can start pretending a more powerful system means the Wii was inconsequential.
