Forums - General - Blockbuster is doomed

Pity because I just started renting games there. Movies, never. I hope they last until the holidays so I can rent all the games I can't afford to buy.

I figured they'd go after MovieGallery(/hollywood video/gamecrazy) went up. It's a problem of business model

Netflix was a non-ideal replacement (because of the time drag between when you desire a movie and when you could watch it), but as high-speed internet continues to proliferate, everything comes together in favor of computer viewing anyway

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Rapidly dying in the UK, too. It's been pretty much completely obliterated by LoveFilm - it just can't compete with an online service which owns every single movie ever released on DVD, and the large majority of games.

Maybe they should hit consoles like netflix?

Seem to be pretty popular still here in Australia. I don't know anyone that rents things online.

PLEASE NO

I made an account with them like 2 months ago!

well it might be best to remove my in store credit from them.

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

They  been doomed for sometime now, I'm surprised they lasted this long. Also if gamefly would get there crap together they can be the final nail in the coffin.

thats where I got bully for 2.81

The only video store in my city still open is a little crap hole with alot of VHS tapes, a fair amount of DVD's,  and porn.  It's also next to a liquor store.  We had 3 at one time.

They will be lucky if they last another 12 months.  They have been trying to get capital for quite some time, but their business model is no longer viable.  There were some rumors of a possible buyout, but they have so much debt that it just doesn't make sense.  They completely underestimated Netflix, Red Box, and digital distribution. By the time they realized their mistake it was to late.  They were such a powerhouse 10 years ago.  It's hard to believe that they were managed this poorly and will no longer exist.
