Forums - Sales Discussion - Format war Bluray vs hddvd...

Betamax .vs VHS is eeerily similar to Blu-Ray vs. HD-DVD.

I read that Sony doesn't want the adult industry to use Blu-Rays, as it doesn't want to tarnish the image of Blu-Ray, so all the adult companies are using HD-DVD instead.  This happened in the Betamax/VHS wars as well.

Actually Sony just didn't want adult flicks to be manufactured on the same production lines as Disney movies, but otherwise they haven't said no to pornographic material on Blu Ray. Nevertheless the adult movie industry seems to favour HD DVD for the better interactivity that it offers for the time being.

And thanks to your mother for for the welcome.

I can imagine the mix ups that would occur if they accidentially mixed up a porno with like the little mermaid and vice versa!

You're gonna love this:

About two years ago, a registered organization sanctioned by the Hong Kong government distributed a VCD aimed at families, but the company encharged with manufacturing the VCDs accidentally burned the contents of a porno flic instead. You can imagine the surprise that families had when they plopped in the VCD!

The label was correct, but the content... well...

Mind you, this actually happened, and at a government level!

that and I can imagine a bunch of disappointed horny pervs when a government family movie appears instead of what they expected.

lol - yep, the door swings both ways!

Sony has said they will not produce porno. However this does not stand the same for other bluray fab people. That means Sony wont print your disc. Someone else will.

There is no rule that says 'no porn on BluRay'

Yet that also means Sony doesn't get as much money. That would have helped with the PS3's cost.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

porn is all online...

who the hell goes into a store and buys porn these days ?

What are you talking about?

I don't know about where you live, but here it's just as convenient to buy your smut in a shop in virtually any shopping mall.

Don't need to wait for the torrent download, and don't need to convert from wmv to dvd to watch on your LCD.

They are also dirt cheap: A VCD will cost you $2.50, so many people just wait for whenever they go to the malls to buy smut as opposed to going out of their way to buy it. These are for feature-length smut, not the 10-second clips you get online as "lures".

Another benefit is you don't leave any incriminating evidence on your computer by viewing smut online.

Finally, there is the option of choice: If you are torrenting, you are limited to what is available online. If you buy online, chances are the VCD will cost you more than $2.50. If you are into a specific form of smut (e.g. BDSM, fetish, bukkake) you will have an easier time satisfying your urge by picking out what you want instead of hunting for it online.

So... yeah... lots of people still buy smut in brick-and-mortars.
