Forums - Sales - I just realized that Nintendo will stay in first place for a long time

The reason why Nintendo don't sell to the teenagers between 12 an 18 this gen is because there where not enough shooters for the Wii, the missing HD features, and not enough games with the dark look that pubertal male teenagers prefer.

But it seems Nintendo is aware of this fact and games like Goldeneye, The Last Story, Metroid Other M shows that they wan't to get this teens too.

If Nintendos next console has graphics like the competitor there is no limit for the Wii2. Even if Sony and MS make similar consoles, most gamers would buy the next Nintendo console because of the high quality nintendo franchises (Mario, Zelda, Metroid etc.).

Another side effect of this generation: At the start oft this generation all third party believed that the Wii would be a flop. As they recognized the Wii become the phenomenon we see today, it was to late for most of them to make expensive blockbusters for the Wii. But as you see with the 3DS, the third parties are not willing to make this mistake again and the Wii successor will have even better third party support than the 3DS.

The reason Nintendo struggles with the 13 to 25 year old male demographic is because that is when boys/men are the most image conscience, insecure and immature; and a large portion of Nintendo’s strategy is to appeal to people beyond this demographic, and it is difficult to reconcile the image that these gamers want to project with the product other gamers desire. Consider (for a moment) how women have been portrayed in many videogames designed to appeal to teenage boys; while many of these could be considered empowering, the majority of these women are portrayed in a way that offends girls and women. At the same time, the images of many men in games that appeal to young boys due to their "maturity" seem like childish fantasies to many people who are older.

to address the kinect and move aspect of the topic, MS is trying to expand where Sony is trying to absorb.

MS is trying new things, trying to get new types of gaming, and Sony is simply trying to make sure that if a game is released for Wii it is just a short port away from ps3.

If anything, MS will be the one to abandon the "counter-culture" in the attempt to capture expanded market.

There's just no winning for me in a Rol thread now is there?

I give up I've been basically repeating myself in every post  so it's pointless to quote anymore. I'll keep going on about playing my Sony system/games and saying it's the best and always will be, and you guys can go on about playing your Nintendo system/games and saying whatever you want about your favorite video game company and we'll all live happily ever after :D

LOL you know some people aren't doing it for some fanbase vs fanbase bullcrap right?  It's a bit odd to lots of people that really enjoy all consoles and games and companies to be as deeply rooted into one belief and one corporation as you say you are, the most perplexing being that you know you're that way and somehow that makes it alright, like if Sony really did leave the market you would just stick with your Sony consoles and never play a new gen of games ever.

You are free to believe what you wish but when you start to bring your narrow view of the gaming world to a thread some people are gonna take issue with the things you state, they get more frustrated because the way you make your points are circular logic and simply "it is so because that's what I think" which doesn't actually work when you're in a debate or trying to appeal to the readers reasoning.

Not jumping on you man just pointing that out, if you're gonna state what you want to state, it might be best not to debate especially if you're gonna go on for pages then get frustrated and stop talking like this lol it saves everyone some headaches.

While the 3DS at the moment doesn't have any games that weren't possible without 3D before, it has plenty of games that gamers want to experience in 3D. Also, it's not like Nintendo absolutely has to have new types of games ready for launch, because at that time no competitor will have shown up. The 3DS is in a comparable situation to the PS2, meaning that even if it doesn't do anything that is very innovative, it will take the victory home.

Putting peoples enthusiasm aside, I would be much happier with say a $20-50 reduction in price tag.

Stepping back into the 3D discussion, taking bets on how many 3rd party games will actually use 3D. If nintendo _requires_ all games use the 3D feature will that mean low number of games? Are studios gonna even be equipped for this? Thats a losing situation if SONY steps up it games and releases 10 games a month on a PSP2 while nintendo is stuck with 2-3 games a month.

I don't think thats quite right. Eventually he would probably get a MS console. But the fact of the matter is Nintendo does not offer very much in the way of games like those found on the HD consoles.

If you really look at it. The HD consoles offer a completely difference experience than the Wii (or vice versa if you prefer). So when you prefer the HD experience then the argument becomes about X360 vs PS3 and until recently even I, who buys all consoles, have said the PS3 has the better experience (taking all things into consideration).

In reality we are all a little biased. Even those who claim they just like to play 'fun' games and don't like all the serious business those HD consoles carry with them.

That doesn't really negate that fact that A) I still had to pay for a feature I wont use. B) developers have to spend money and time developing a feature I wont use. C) It all could amount to less number of games being released.

Thus one of the arguments for why PS3 beats the X360. More exclusives from the X360 can be found on the PC, done better. That can't be said for quite a few of the AAA PS3 exclusives. That said, there is an argument to be made ultimately the PC is more expensive and more stress inducing.
