PS3 has a HUGE growing, since August 2009.

What a great evolution!!

Wow I didn't realize they were that close if you take away the year headstart, interesting.. So basically the two consoles would be at a near tie if they launched at the same time. MS has to feel glad that they released their console a year before Sony, as it's almost singlehandedly the reason it remains a significant amount in 2nd place ahead of them.

That logic is quite poor. If you were to change the date of the console launches it would be difficult to say what differences might have been made in the final hardware. In any case its simply a 'what if' scenario. Its as valid as me for instance saying that had Nintendo launched with 3* the performance of the current Wii then the PS3 and Xbox 360 (which launched on the same date) would only have 32% market share between them.

PS3 and 360 seem to be in an endless seesaw effect with sales since they are so similar. When 360 was going strong, PS3 was struggling. Then when PS3 had its big slew of releases, price drop, and slim redesign, PS3 took off and 360 sales dwindled. Now the trends are beginning to reverse again with the advent of the slim 360. They are simply eating away at eachother's marketshare.

sony bumps are generally way bigger.

VGChartz Hardware data for the period 12th Nov 2006 to 03rd Jul 2010:

Console PS3 X360
Total
35,653,629
35,421,819

Since PS3 released, it's sold an extra 240k according to this chart, it says on launch 360 was ahead 5,260,000.

http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly.php?date=40363&reg=World&date=39033&console=&maker=

Unless the figures have been adjusted in anyway, the PS3 has sold only 230k more than the 360 since it was released, so no I wouldn't say it's bumps are much bigger going by that.

This has always been by FAR the most relevant stat... forget alligned launches.

This one is the only one which represents PS3 v 360 when both were available and the consumer knew the choices and could act on those choices.

First lets make it clear, i agree, you're right, i understand your point and its true... BUT ;) If i have 5m friends with a 360, im not buying a PS3.

looks like a mistake on consoles lowest weeks for 360.

1. 63,001

2. 65325

3. 63,001  ?(same as 1)?

Ta, adjusted

Winning Streaks
#1 30 (PS3) 25 30
#2 25 (PS360) 17 25
#3 17 (360) 13 11

i don't get this part, what does this mean?

also is that a typo saying 25 (PS360), shouldn't it say 25 (PS3)

It means that the 2nd place win streak is shared between 360 and PS3, since both have a streak of 25 weeks.
