What makes you think increasing the use of cognitive skills is going to result in hate going down?  You get people on the net who are very intelligent, but have the emotional development of children, and don't understand empathy, or decency.  People do things because:

* They are dire for attention.  Their lives have little meaning, so they need an audience.

* People have issues in their life unresolved, and feel airing them is the only option.

* People want to share the suffering.  If they aren't going to have a good life, they don't want you to other.  This is a form of justice in their minds.

* People be trollololing, for giggles, wanting to see you get upset at it.  It is a joke, and they get a laugh out of it.

If you ever notice 90% of all of that is from the older generation. Our generation only learns it from the older generation. If our generation keeps an openmind and ignores the older generation's crap then we can all live happy when they are old and retired.

Just keep an openmind on everything and teach everyone you can to keep an openmind. Equality is for the greater good for humanity. Without it we will eventually kill ourselves.

And I dont know if you are religous or not but if you are make yourself an agnostic version of that religion. I'm an Catholic Agnostic. Basically while I was born in and will say that I believe in the greater being of "God" (not specifically the being of what the story book of the Bible says but of a being of good will and of high-power) I am willing to learn and get a greater understanding of how other religions work and what they believe to better objectivify what I believe in overall.

Bile in fanboy wars over videogame systems gets WAY up there on the hate level.  Consider flamewars.  Stupidity on just about every subject, from religion, to politics, to what system people own.  Here is a video tribute to that (We didn't start the flamewar):

I've found a lot of athiest/agnostics that are just as bigoted and narrow.  It's a problem that both sides suffer from. I'll admit, people have done horrible things over the centuries in the name of religion. The Crusades, The Inquisition, terrorism (in the middle east and other areas) had terrible consequences for innocent people. However, there is also a history of persecution of religious groups by Socialist (Athiest) nations. Granted is it not on the same level as what's been done by radical religious beliefs, but it exists nonetheless.

My point is that a general lack of respect is demonstrated by members of both sides of this debate.

Here is the thing. We are fighting over non-living items. Who cares, heated debate and some battles of words will always exists as everyone will defend their choices in what they boughts and like. As long as we dont kill eachother over it or attack a person's dignity because they bought game system X instead of Y.

What needs to end is things like racism, pre-judgement and, hate for the fellow human. Maybe eventually religion needs to end or at least people need to consider religion a non-living entity that needs to be treated as such. Debate it, yes; kill over it and hate the fellow human because they dont believe what you believe, no.

Sadly it works both ways, I find the people "who are goody two shoes"  very annoying especially when they fight cases for rapist/peadophiles an murders to get them out of prison earlier saying thier reformed/changed/learnt from their ways, or it isnt their fault society let them down ,they had a bad child hood etc.... then bam!!!...... there out into society and at it again.
