Forums - Sales - Its time to admit it. PS3 will NEVER overtake 360.

Sony are projecting 15 million up from 2009s 13 million so whether they do or don't they have big plans of their own to combat Kinect and 360S. Honestly when the gap is 4-5 million either way with install bases of 35 million each I don't see much relevance anymore.

We will see.

We don't know how long the boost will last, we don't know what Kinect will do, we dont know what Sony have planned to reach that 15 Million or whatever it is.

What could they have planned?   We know about Move, 3D and the majority of their Q2-4 lineup (Killzone 3, GT5, LBP2, SOCOM4, inFamous 2, etc), what else could there be?  A price drop?

I think SCE was overestimating their momentum going into the year...  Q1/2 should be up quite a bit, but Q3/4 are going to be down dramatically.

Cut. Colours. "Arcade"-like PS3. GT5 bundles. Move, plus huge advertising. Versus XIII?

Lots of stuff, potentially. But like i said, we don't know...

I´m going to be really honest when i say it´s very sad that the 360 is selling like hot cakes in this past few weeks.

And before anyone calls me a PS3 fanboy, i don´t have a PS3, i have a 360.

The point is, Microsoft needs to fall hard, and it´s for their own good, because at this point, they suck like no tomorrow.

They lack in first parties, they lack on exclusives (except the timely ones and DLC crap), they even lack on Ips for they live on Halo, Fable and Forza alone (Gears and Mass Effect are third party, they can lose it at any time).

They are a american console for the american people, they don´t care for anyone else (which is just pathetic in this day and age), and you can see that with the all 20 minutes ESPN on their E3 press conference or that the Xbox live price is equal in every market (basically, the world is financing the US Xbox Live).

They need to fall so they open their eyes and think for a moment.

PS3 won't overtake the 360 by the time the new boxes comes out.  They could do it LTD, because I could definitely see MS abandon the 360 and Sony sticking with the PS3 alot longer.  I say Nintendo shows off their new box at e3 in 2012 e3 and sells it in Christmas 2013.....just a guess

yea publishers will see potential in PS3 beleaving it may rival or come close to rivaling next gen consoles. PS3 just my sneek past MS and Nintendo on that fact alone.

I bet most of those units were the $149 and $249 liquidation units. $300 for a 360 isn't going to boost sales that much when the 360 was already $300

I mean the 360 outsold the Wii. Does anyone think that's going to stay that way? Then the PS3 should be outselling the Wii also, because that's what it did the week it got a redesign

Don't know much about Move but do you really need a navigation control? I thought you could just use the normal controller as the navigation control.

The starter kit and the controller is 80$ right? People will buy the cheapest out of the two, no matter how more the other one will offer (reminiscence of X360 vs Ps3 launch). I am starting to think that parts of this generation keep repeating itself.

Its very likely you'll need the Navigation control at some point. Some games even require two Move controllers. The Move apparently works with old games as well so you'll definitely need the Navigation control for those.

I'm pretty sure Sony already announced the prices. Gamestop has the Starter kit at $100 and that only includes the Move controller, Eyetoy, and bundled game. The Move controller a lone runs $50 and the Navigation controller is $30.

Yea and after the PS3 slim came out, it was not only going to take over the 360 but give Wii a run for its money.  I mean let's not be like the mainstream media and use every opportunity something "different" happens to make sensationalist truth claims about the world.  I agree with an early poster, let's see how this plays out a few weeks and a few months and after this holiday season to really see how it affects the industry as a whole.  No one knows what MS will do later this year, and more importantly what Nintendo and Sony will do.  As we've already seen many times this gen on all 3 sides, new models and pricedrops have not yet have long term effects, or at least enough to turn any tides.  Doesn't mean they can't, but just shows they aren't and shouldn't be your ace in the sleeve.

The 100$ price point might work though. I think move will be a slight success, because the price point is right.

i'll second or third that.

All the systems will remain in there current positions throughout the rest of the gen. Who cares if the ps3 remains in third place. hopefully sony can learn from there mistakes,if they come out with the ps4. lol
