You know how many great studios worked hard to make innovate ideas and games like Psychonauts, Grim Fandango, Okami or Little King Story?

i see it completely different. isn't it insulting to who worked on something unique and completely new like epic yarn if someone who recreates a look every second shooter has since 10 years, just with more particles and possibly pixels, wins an award for visuals?

Well, I'm glad people from the press are starting to change their discourse.

I think that "the best..." is always settled to be polemic, no matter the topic, because it always comes down to perspective and personal tastes and values. But I also think is a very good sign that Press get out of the HD hardcore-powress speech vs Wii casual-weakness one.

I agree that kirby won. Same HD graphics over, over, and over again gets pretty boring.

Tbh I think Limbo looked better..such nice atmosphere in that game

Art direction > raw technical horsepower.  A fool with a tool is still a fool.  But give a great artist less modest resources, and what is created is superior.

Like consider the minimalist approach Microsoft uses to promote Halo.  They even used action figures in one spot.  The ads work, and are beautiful for what they are.  They are better than something else which pushes a lot of polygons.

The case of Kirby's Epic Yarn is the art style and execution stand out, in the minds of some, as superior to what is seen in all these FPS style titles.

Out of the choices they gave I would agree, but I think Limbo, Child of Eden, and from what I hear Journey are all higher up in looks than Kirby.  But Kirby isn't far behind those three, very pretty and imaginatively created game world.
