Forums - Nintendo - Goldeneye, vs. Conduit 2, vs. Black Ops. What say you??

I'd go with Conduit 2. Both that game and Black Ops have Wii predecessors, so points to them. Bonus points to Conduit 2 and Goldeneye for being a tru Wii game. Conduit 2 gets points in both categories.

Well games were cinematic before even 3D came along so it really isn't about the graphics but the work you put into your title.  Not sure if you've played Call of Duty 4 on Wii, it's the exact same game, with the same intense single player of the original, hell I own it on 360, PC and Wii cause I love that game so much.  I get the same thrill playing the Wii version cause it's a good story and made well, which goes back to my original point, graphic intensity doesn't mean anything if you're willing to put in the work.

Perfect example is this, The Conduit has a better engine that allows them to do effects you don't typically see in Wii titles, but that story just wasn't put together as well as Call of Duty 4, the levels while built from the ground up for Wii lacked imagination and style, while CoD4 had big scale, it was fun, and when you're into the action you don't think about little nitpicking things, it was just designed very well.  Then Call of Duty 4 had all the maps, all the modes, an online experience that was hacker free, etc and it turned out to be a better game in every way, the graphics were pleasing cause they had style, the controls were just as customizable, it had better online, and the gameplay was just as solid as it was on 360 or PC.

You have a point, no I haven't played it, I had played COD3 on wii...and that was bad really. since I've heard not very reactions from friends about reflex I haven't bothered to try it myself, I've just seen some videos.... Yes the work you put in title is what count the most but Istill think that on equal "work-quality" you can make better games starting form the ground-up than porting titles from much-different platforms, maybe I just don't see the cod series much fitting with the wii "philosophy" of simple and fun....or I just find difficult to belive that the wii can give you the same illusion of realism as on PC, but if you say that the experience is a solid on PC I belive it.

PS.If somehow this comments gives you the idea to be wii-biased it's wrong, it's just a particular feeling I have with this game, wii is my favourite console of this generation.

Yeah I know I see you posting on the forums all the time so I know there is no anti Wii bias or something, just pointing a few things out.

As for illusion of realism... I really wouldn't say any version of the game gives you a real illusion of realism... CoD4 is just a military action flick in game form, a good one at that, and all versions give that feeling due to the story and action sequences in the game.

As for CoD3 Wii... yeah CoD3 was just bad all around anyway but make it with a low budget and poor controls... it made it even worse.  I remember playing the 360 for the first time and the first game I got to play was CoD3... man I was like "THIS IS SHIT!" I hated the game and found myself not really wanting a 360 at that point lol but with the success of WaW on Wii Activision has been giving Treyarch more money to make their Wii versions, one of the developers said that the budget and team for CoD4 Wii was much bigger than WaW so if the trend continues they could have a nice budget/team for Black Ops and could get even more of their ideas into the game.

(The guy stated because of the lack of time, not the Wii hardware's capabilities, they couldn't put in things like 4 player splitscreen like they wanted, they still haven't listed much about Black Ops so there's the possibility they have the time and the team to make it happen this year)

Well it sounds much more interesting now...I still go with Goldeneye as priority atm (I played the original only in multiplayer since I've never owned an N64 and I was told the single player was very good) then I'll see some reviews and maybe I'll give it a chance...

I choose to put that $50 towards 2D platformers.  Fuck FPS.

Conduit 2 doesn't look half bad. Black Ops will be good, Goldeneye not so much...

Yeah I'm not saying pick one over the other but saying CoD deserves some credit haha I'm personally looking into Goldeneye because I want some local splitscreen action and maybe with Wii controls I can actually stand to play the story till the end.  I played the original up to a point where between enemies and the annoying controls I just gave up on beating the story without someone to do the missions I hated lol but I didn't mind multiplayer as much cause everyone just like "yeah the controls are shit deal with it" attitude and it was fun to have karate chop matches.

I will buy Goldeneye unless they screw it up somehow which I don't see happening.  Goldeneye is the reason why I returned back to Nintendo (and I never left again after that).

watch the trailer for conduit 2. I'd probably get Goldeneye.

NINTENDO

nintendo forever . . .

Black Ops for sure! This is the hot game I been waiting for since I heard about them making it!!!

I think Call of Duty will handily be the best of the three.  For one thing, Call of Duty has a familiar home on the Wii and those games have been garnering pretty good reviews as they've been made.

Activision has dropped the ball on previous Bond games, and just because this is essentially a remake of the most revered Bond title ever, doesn't mean it's going to be good.  Hell, there's no guarantee it'd be good even if it came from Rare since everyone who mattered at that company left ages ago when they were sold to Microsoft.

High Voltage has a lot to improve upon for Conduit 2.  I honestly think it could be too much for them to live up to... just like the first game.

Conduit 2 > Black Ops > GoldenEye

Same assessment for me.

With Conduit 2, I'm looking forward to their hard efforts.  They are really trying and pushing themselves and I'm happy to support efforts like that on the Wii.

BlackOps next because I'm excited for that developer and their efforts on the Wii.

GoldenEye last because I know I'm getting my classic 64 game with some wiimote controls.

Honestly though, I'm buying all of these.  No question about that.  They all excite me and I'm happy to show my support for these games.
