They weren't bad because they were Japanese. They were bad because they were terrible presenters. If you don't speak English well, you don't try to give a speech in English. Kojima's English is way better than that of the Konami people, and he's perfectly happy to use an interpreter.

And then the dance guy...I don't even know what happened there. On the one hand, you had the crazy Japanese guy (even if he can't speak English, that doesn't mean he has to act like a chimpanzee on cocaine), and on the other, the guy who actually spoke English, but clearly didn't have the slightest bit of interest in what was going on. And since he wasn't staring at a notepad and reading out translations, it went from genuinely funny to cringeworthy.

With another note, Konami was terrible there without either the powder [re] rather. Games mimi the Japanese slowly.
