Simple math would dictate that Halo Reach will outsell GT 5 by a fairly large margin barring GT5 getting bundled at some point.

Halo 2 sold 8 million on an install base of 25 million. GT4 sold 14 or so million on an install base of 130 million (roughly).

Halo 3 sold almost 11 million and it launched to an install base of around 18-20 million.

With the current hardware numbers for Sony and MS I don't see how GT has any shot at beating Halo this gen....unless of course it gets bundled.

no not simple math. more like speculation on numbers of a console that dominated.

lets stick to simple facts. GT4 sold 14m. Halo sold 11m (round it off)

most sequals sell beter then there predecessors. so to blow the argument out of the water

GT5 20m GT5 is th onlyone that will move consoles

Halo Reach 15m

it can't be argued cause my mind is made up.

You think GT5 is gonna sell 20 million and Reach is gonna sell 15M o_0

yea sure why not.

Because its.....crazy!

i don't think so! COD2 selling 20m was crazy to me.

Yeah but it was on multiple platforms, was hyped beyond belief, and it was a FPS with great online (which is probably the most popular genre out there)

toshay! so whats stopping GT5 from selling 20m?

What percentage of PS3 owners want to own a driving sim game?  Yes, GT5 is shaping up to be off the hook awesome, but that doesn't mean that there are 20m plus people who want to do a driving game on the PS3.  Exactly what percentage of the PS3 system owners would it be if 20m bought GT5?

toshay again, but that doesn't mean that every PS3 owner doesn't want the game. we still have people that own 360's, and the one that where just waiting for this game to come out.

it's still something that we will haft to wait and see, but it's possible.

for every argument there is a why it will and a why it won't. this will be a first time buy of the GT5 series for me, so there in lies my optimism.

Its not a FPS, its not on the Wii, no GT has ever sold even close to that, and it seems like the racing genre isn't quite as popular as it used to be.

I still don't think GT5 will break 10m, but that also depends when Polyphony makes GT6, which could take at least half a decade...

If Halo Reach is at least on par quality wise with Halo 3 (preferably even better), I'd be disappointed, if it doesn't manage to sell more than Halo 3 LTD.

So nah I think Halo will win.

Polyphony stated GT6 will be made much more quickly than GT5.

Lots of people are talking about attach rates (stupid math) which doesn't make any sense.  When Halo 3 came out, there wasn't a competing FPS.  Halo Reach is going up against Call of Duty Black Ops this fall, and the last COD sold 10 million on Xbox and 8 million on PS3.  And don't give that crap that this game isn't made by Infinity Ward.  Majority of people in this country have no idea who Infinity Ward or Treyarch are.  Everytime I watch ESPN, Black Ops commercials are plastered during NBA playoffs or Sportscenter.  Typical Americans (the family of 4 with household income 30~K who shop at Walmart) are not going to buy both Black Ops and Halo Reach.  Go ask a non-fanboy:  more people are aware of Black Ops coming out this fall because of the main stream advertising as opposed to Halo Reach.

1. Halo Reach will arrive a whole month earlier than Black Ops.
2. While still many people will buy Black Ops, doesn't mean that no one is aware of the fact that this isn't made by Infinity Ward or at least notice the lower quality of the game. CoD series has peaked with Modern Warfare 2

Look at CoD 4 and CoD WaW. There are still millions of people who know the difference.
Black Ops will sell no more than CoD4 at most, and Halo 3 could live just fine with the competition of CoD4, so I don't see a problem why Halo Reach wouldn't sell as good as Halo 3.

Actually I think GT5 and Halo Reach will Tie. Yea everyone wins!!

As nuts as that sounds, it could happen.

no. the other GT games have a attach ratio to there console of like 10%. if GT5 sells 20 million copies it would have like a 29% attach ratio to the ps3(if sony sells 75 million console wich is on the high side). i suspect around 8 million copies for GT5.

Halo MCC will sell 5+ million copies(including digital)

halo 5 will sell 10 million copies(including digital)

x1 will pass ps4 in USA, and UK.

No racing game has ever been as popularas GT, none hasve ever sold close to it.  NFS at its height did half GTs sales.
