Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Zelda was pushed back to refine visual style, says Shigeru Miyamoto!

I think it's safe to say that all those games are very similar to each other.

Look at the first zeldas and how they evolved and tell me that recently zelda hasn't stagnated. To tell the truth, I would love to play a top down 2d zelda again with some creativity to make it more modern.

In fact a new one similar to adventures of link would be great. Just without the switch in screen. Just drop the camera to ground level, go into "over the shoulder cam" and fight a group of monsters in that way. Have some areas as side scrolling at an angle and some lazer shooting swording again.

Outline the elements which make all the 3D Zeldas so similar, while differentiating the 2D games from those same conventions. Do it in two paragraphs or less.

Also I am glad yyou have nothing to do with Nintendo's decision-making process

I love the idea.

I don't really hate the new artsyle, I think it looks cool, but them polishing it just makes it better.

You don't like adventures of link? What?

I'd rather use pictures:

I implore you to find something that is not a red herring, which, through cherry picking, only appears to indicate that all 3D Zeldas share the same perspective. You are also factually mistaken on several accounts (calling for new uses of 2D (Four Swords) and a sword beam in 3D (Skyward Sword)), showing you can't really be trusted with matters pertaining to Zelda history, and by extension, stagnation.

Oh, and point me to the man who said the direct sequel to the first 3D Zelda - which by the way was criticized mostly for being too demanding and breaking convention - was 'too much like its predecessor' so that I may thoroughly castigate him for his ignorance.

I'm sorry khuutra, I don't mean to attack zelda. It's just those last pictures look extremely similar, and the first three do not.

Helios really covered it better than I can: all you did was bring up a question of perspective, which is needlessly reductive and too seriously narrows the discussion.

How much Zelda have you played?

Ok guys I'm sorry. I don't know the quotes, or the conceptions.

I've simply played all the games. When the first zeldas came out they were unique and cool and different. Ocarina of time was cool too. There is no problem with ocarina. My problem is with "ocarina pt 2,3,and 4".

I'm just not interested in zeldas anymore. They seem boring and tedious now. I haven't even played spirit tracks in months. It feels different wrong. I don't know what else to tell you. Obviously i can't ask you to see for yourself what is wrong because you don't see anything wrong. I do.

I don't really know how I can prove it, but I've played:

Zelda, Link, Link to the past, briefly 4 swords, spirit tracks (abandoned for boredom), Ocarina, MAjoras mask, Wind waker (1st half of game because my ex-friend stole my gamecube for coke-money), part of twilight princess.

Speaking of Windwaker, does anybody else have the 2-disc version that includes Ocarina of Time/Master Quest in the same package?

I do, why?
