Both have great games but few system sellers; the PSP only have one in Japan (Monster Hunter), none of the games on the PSP have the same mass appeal of Nintendogs, Dragon Quest or Pokemon, for a handheld is important to have games that you can only experience in a portable system.
Another thing is that both had elements that were quickly surpassed by other companies, for example the Dreamcast had the Internet connection but the XBOX internet were more efficient, the PSP had the movies and music support, both of them are now more popular in iPod or iPhone.
It's nice to see sony supporting the PSP as a gaming device, the first approach as a "Next walkman" was really wrong, I honestly don't think this new add campaign'll help a lot with the sales in North America with the DS, Apple products and the announce of the 3DS getting all the attention, it's just a matter of time.
