Well, about 200 cars have too much detail, the other 800 are less detailed and have no cockpits.

Where did you pull this info from?  Where did PD say that 800 of their cars will have no cockpits

Those famously reliable NeoGAF servers, I guess.

Keep trying!

The original source.

I think it might be reliable.

Yes, they seem to be reusing PS2 assets for about 80% of the game's vehicles.

lol.  Can I call it Gran Turismo 4.5 now?

Here is a Video of the  standard cars in GT5

So these 800 standard cars don't have a cockpit view when driving?

Ok just to set the record straight.  PD collected FAR more data then they would ever use when they created the cars in GT4 (possibly GT3 too), possibly they thought about the future, whoda thunk it?.. Anyway from what we know from PD at the moment is that the "assets" as in the raw data they had from these cars are being used and optimised.  To say they are simply GT4 cars is a little simple and honestly false.

Most importantly all the cars will support the same new physics engine.

No wonder the game did only cost $60 million to make, they did cut a lot of corners during development. I think any Sony fan with the slighest sense of self-respect should stay clear of this game. It's a ripoff.

At least with Nintendo I know that they won't try to sell me repackaged stuff from last gen.

Let's not do this, guys. They're still nice-looking cars, and modeling 200 of them as much as they did would take a lot of time.

Still no where in there does it say there is no cockpit view for the standard cars.

I don't know the first thing about it. I only posted this link because I saw this discussion and remembered the same one goignn on at NeoGAF. Did they have cockpit views in the PS2 version? If so, they'll probably be PS2 cockpits with nicer textures.
