Forums - Nintendo - Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword Visuals Yay or Nay?

Not expected, but very good surprised. I love the artistic style and prefer a much more brighter Zelda than a very dark TP...

For me, all is okay! Don't forget they have to polish the graphics, Miyamoto said they were right in the phase because they completed the gameplay.

Wii has such a strong lineup for summer, fall, winter and 2011 spring!

The game is looking very meh. Gameplay didn't look much better either.

Can't say I was looking forward to it before the conference and well that didn't change at all. Everything looks like a step down from Twilight Princess and even that wasn't so great.

Is your only experience of the game from the conference?

yep but even if the controls work I wouldn't change my mind.

That's fine. I'm just going to link you to one video, so you won't think everything is a step down from Twilight Princess. That cool?

At the moment it looks like a new coat of paint slapped over the Twilight Princess engine. It doesn't look bad I just prefer WW and TP to this. But it's hard to judge without actually playing the game or seeing more than just one location.

I actually have to say I stand corrected. Watching clearer higher quality videos, more screens and the gameplay demo on the showfloor, I'm actually warm to this art style. More importantly, the gameplay itself just looks awesome. Only thing, so far, are the enemies, they need to be more menacing, but I'm sure the polish will take care of all of these.

As others have said these games look radically different, from the first showcase to the actual release. So I have faith.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

I'm so glad they stopped going for 'realism' to be honest.

Ocarina may have had very advanced graphics for its time but they were also, for most of the game, very bright. This is closest in style to Ocarina since Majora's Mask. Windwaker was a wonderful little detour, and Twilight too dark for my graphical tastes but this looks like its getting back to where I like it.

Looks good to me/ I like the artstyle. I am actually pretty hyped for this one, but that is due to the controls.

I love it personally.  Love the hand painted look, it really pops in a way a more realistic style wouldn't.   It also keeps it more in the realm of light fantasy allowing them to do more fantastical stuff without it seeming out of place.

Also, I'm mindful that Zelda isn't an adult game, not to say it's kiddie but most of you played it as kids and so will your kids, so a child friendly look for a sometimes dark game is quite appropriate.    I remember I always had to play through the zombies on ZOoT because they scared my son.  And that was with N64 graphics.  So it shouldn't get too realistic.

Hm! You seem determined to not want to expose yoruself to the game, and instead operate off of what you know to be a false impression.
