Story sounds fantastic, controls not so much. I hope they offer an option to use the Wiimote alone.

?

What's the problem with the controls?

They force me to use a stick for movement. In a 2D game. In a 2D game!

A d-pad is much more reliable for precise maneuvers in such a game. I am also one of those people who rather use the tiny Gamecube d-pad than the stick to play Fire Emblem 9. Plus when navigating through a menu in any game, I rather use a d-pad than a stick.

I am a control freak. You know I am also complaining about games that run in PlayStation analog stick mode and only register weak and strong movement of the stick with nothing inbetween. I recently got Sky Crawlers and when you choose the analog stick to control the planes you can't fly smooth turns for the aforementioned reason.

Fair enough, although I haven't had any problems controlling NyxQuest or Lost Winds using the stick, so I'm not too concerned.  I haven't heard any problems with it in Jungle Beat either: to be honest, this is the first time I can remember anyone raising this concern.

I literally can't wait for.  Not only is it DK Country but it is being made by Retro Studios.  This is going to be fantastic.

Well, I do prefer playing 2D platformers with a D-Pad, too. I actually though this was a common sense thing. It's faster, easier and more accurate.

Yes, there aren't any problems controlling NyxQuest and Lost Winds, but those games aren't about precision in any way. I don't remember Jungle Beat supporting the analog stick, was that added into the New Play Control version?

I advice you to go play NSMB Wii with the Wiimote/Nunchuk setup. Maybe you'll see what I mean.

I'll grant that Lost Winds doesn't need precision, but NyxQuest?  Arcadia in particular was very much a stop-here-now-get-there-quickly affair.  And yeah, NPC Jungle Beat uses the stick to control DK.

Fair enough; I just wasn't aware that anyone had a problem with the analogue stick.  Live and learn!
