Do you know how hard that would be since they just lowered the price by $100 last year?  I could possible see $50 price cut but a $100 price cut would be ridiculous and Sony would once again go to massively losing money for each console sold.

I think they're hungry enough honestly.  It's pretty clear by now that PS3 will basically never be profitable overall anyway, and I'm starting to think Sony will do whatever it takes to finish in second place this generation.

I dunno wtf happened to MS though... they pretty clearly are content with where they are.

I suspect since quite some time that the 360 guys aren't allowed to throw as much money around as in the Xbox era. In theory MS could have finished the PS3 off in the early years when Sony was in a terrible postion by cutting the price on the 360 more aggressively, but they never did. There seems to be big pressure to make the 360 profitable from the upper management at Microsoft.

that is exactly the impression that i have since a while now.

they also seem to cut back on advertising lately.

Once you make profit with something you don't want to go back to losing money on it, and compared to other Microsoft Business their margins are not that high to keep investors happy.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Sony's most dangerous opponent is themselves.

Quoted for truthiness.

No, Sony is now getting a lot more revenue from its PSN Plus service, which gives it more cash to spend to run the business.  More revenue gives you a bigger chance to beat the other guy; standard RTS strategy here.

Also, Steamworks is coming to the PS3 and this won't simply add people that want Steamworks to the PS3 brand.  The Steamworks kinds of users are more technologically proficient than hte average gamer, and are probably more influential as to what brands are better, so the PS3 is now going to get the elites of the gamer world on its side.

The PS3 did well this E3 don't worry about it.

More revenue gives more cash to spend??? I don't understand your fancy RTS talk.

Sony shouldn't be worried, they are actually making money now (unlike when the PS3 slim launched).

Yes, more revenue means more cash to spend.  The RTS reference was that an improved economy can often tilt the balance in your favor, so that you'll have a better chance at beating the other players.

No, but it's not getting a price cut, either. That's the Arcade, but with less noise and less heat.

I want to see what happens when we start the 2nd year of the slim. If it still is doing wonderfully, than no need to worry. I think September is when it starts.
