Okay, textures and effects were good, but the blocky character look was worse than many PS1 games, along with a notorious draw distance.

Worse than which PS1 games?

And the era was notorious for crappy draw distances: Turok and Silent Hill spring to mind.  Goldeneye was above average for its time there, too.

A lot of PS1 games had faces that were less detailed, but shaped better. They didn't look like someone slapped a photo of a face on an oblong shape.

The thing is I don't mind the remake having shapes that look a little blocky. I don't expect them to spend $10-$20 million just to get all the top of the line effects and textures (even by Wii standards).

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

noname2200 is right. Turok had a strong issue with draw distances. Only a few levels at GoldenEye had it.

But LTNK is right: the game was not about its graphics, but its gameplay and its wonderful never topped local multiplayer.

oh....my...god......

im impressed...to say the least. this, CoD, or conduit 2?....so many choices.

if it turns out a good remake i'll add to my "to buy" fps list (which already includes the conduit 2 and cod:black ops), since i never had the chanche to prperly play the original.

i hope the trailer is from an early build, because graphically it looks like a ps2 game, and not a good one.

While the game was absolutely awesome in solo and especially multiplayer, I just don't know if I want to relive it again.

It's definitely aged, even more so than Perfect Dark.  But hopefully the developers will use their knowledge and expertise to shore up whatever flaws that Golden Age Rare left behind, make the game feel fresh and original, and still retain the spirit of the original.

Hopefully!

Oh wow!

This just has risen to the top of my WII FPS possible buy list.

Yep, whining that the graphics aren't good enough.

The game was never about the graphics.

It isn't GoldenEye without Brosnan.

Yeah, it would be nice if they could do a total remake, but considering the legal hassles that came from attempts before this to re-release or remake the game, I can see why this is unlikely.

So CoD: Black Ops, Conduit 2, and Goldeneye are all coming out the same month.

Somebody's not going to make it.
