Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo will definitely win at E3 this year

My question is how can Nintendo win if they aren't presenting anything interesting?  Nintendo will always finish in last of the big three in E3 performance because they haven't shown anything interesting since the introduction of the Wii.

Man I am really curious to hear your definition of "interesting".

Nintendo won't 'win' this E3 in the minds of many gaming journalists because Wii Party and Wii Relax will be there-I wouldn't bet against an onstage demonstration of one of those titles. Even if they have onstage demos of Metroid, Zelda and unannounced 'core' titles, many gaming journos will claim that Wii series titles being given stage time detracts from the show.

The simple truth is the gaming press doesn't fully represent the market Nintendo appeals to. They represent a small minority of it, and in some cases don't represent any of it. Nintendo still have it in them to excite the gaming press, just expect there to be plenty of hate regarldless of how good Nintendo's show is.

Although it will be interesting to see if Microsoft and Sony receive similar negative press from these same minorities when they trot out their Wii Sports/Fit imitators and mini game collections. I bet they don't receive as much scorn as Wii Party/Relax.

All this being said, the  gaming press is massively out of touch with the modern market. Despite slowing sales and increased competition from all quarters, Nintendo hardware and software does still dominate. And that dominance has come despite the gaming press slamming their previous few E3 presentations. Even though I expect Nintendo's Wii line up this year to be phenomenal, and I have high hopes for 3DS.

I also fully expect some websites to slag Zelda off for being 'waggle' based and for dumbing down the series. You heard it here first, folks!

I still don't gt why Last Year wasn't good, I loved last year....

2008 wasn't good, but 2009?

is E3 a competition?  is there a prize?  no, it isn't and there isn't.  it's a trade show, you can't win a trade show.  how sad that some people's identities are so wrapped up in a video game console that they create competitions where there isn't any to simply feel better about themselves.

this gaming industry revolves around competition. Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony don't just go to these shows to show off games and other stuff. They go to show what their company has to offer regarding games and why they are the superior gaming company.

No, they go to these games to show off games and other stuff. The fanboys are the ones that are all about "competition". The companies (ESPECIALLY Nintendo) are all about having a good showing for their retailers and shareholders back in Japan. Simple as that.

You are COMPLETELY on point here. From a company perspective, I'm actually very much hoping that we have a few expanded audience titles that are online capable. Netflix is doing PHENOMENALLY successful on Wii right now, and its really awoken a good portion of the expanded audience base to online. We need games like Wii Party to keep up that momentum.

If Nintendo doesnt announce NSMB Wii 2 it wont win in my book lol

I wanted to ask a quick question to those here rather than make a new thread.

Does anyone know how long Nintendo's press conference will be this year? I hear it will be 2 hours, but I can find no such source.

That is really specific!

If Nintendo can show off the gameplay for Zelda Wii and the full specs for 3DS, then it will capture the medias attention at E3.  If it just spend an hour and a half talking about how its 'changing the market' and showing off graphs and having Iwata chastize the market like it usually does, then it won't.

And I'd like to point out, no one 'wins' E3.  They just capture the medias attention.  The true people who 'win' E3 are those who actually sell games outside of E3.

Six upcoming games you should look into:

Unfortunately I can't answer that without getting banned by trigger happy mods as the answer involves extremely unflattering opinions of nintendo.
