i think blizzard just learned the wrong lessons from activision = milk the customer.

starcraft 2's stupidities:

1.) 3 LAUNCHES - jesus, you need to buy the game 3 times? this must be the worst excuse to milk the customer of all time.

2.) dumb-ass DRM - as mentioned in this thread.

3.) NO LAN - sweet christ.. when they mentioned this, i already decided to pirate the damn thing.

if i were an activist, i would be starting an online ban petition. but i know that's not gonna do anything.

It is also region locked.

There is no more Battle.net chat rooms. In fact there is no more chat at all outside of your friends and whispers and in game.

Adding friends requires their email address, or finding them on facebook.

All of these problems are on top of the fact that the game itself is still very effed up in terms of balance and just plain fun (support units are abolutely useless).

IT'S REGION LOCKED?!!! Shit!!! How am I supposed to play friends oversees?!!!

You are quite sad. I thought you didn't care and were going to be blown away no matter what. What happened now?

To answer your question, you buy the overseas version. You will supposedly be able to download it straight from their site as well.

Yes I said I don't care about the DRM. Yes the SP and Multiplayer is gonna blow me away. My problem is not the DRM so no I'm not sad. Or unless the DRM is the reason why it's region locked... (I don't know much about DRMs)

region locked you say... well, guess I wont be buying it :( thats a bit frustrating, unsure if I actually care about playing it now :\

Someone posted a link to a very recent interview about SC2. Now all the utter bullshit and crap (seriosuly, SC2 is gonna be shit whichever way you try to spin it) .

multi-player is very lackluster, definitely not something made over 12 years)

Been playing thebeta for some months now, and the horrendous bucket of crap that Bet2.0 is aside, this game is very underwhelming. Really, Warcraft 3 feels like a better game right now, and the moment you log into the WC3 bnet you shouldn't even think about twice about SC2. The sole saving graces SC2 can have now are the custom games (which may become paid if you read the interview) and the single-player.

Can u elaborate on why it sux?

Take Starcraft, dumb it down, change some units around, and you have SC2. For instance, the main support units, high templar, raven, and the infestor are just barely above useless. They are nothing compared to the Sciene vessel, HT, ad defiler from Starcraft 1 in what can be done with them. The balance is also off, whatever Blizz says, zerg have piss-poor air, many protoss units are utterly overpriced for how useless they are (Archons absolutely blow for instance). Terrans are the only race that feels like it's actually rounded off in terms of cost/use and just general usability. I play random btw so I don't really have a favorite race.

I mean just overall, the game feels like Starcraft 0.5. Not counting the fact that Battle.net 2.0 is worse than Gamespy. Either Blizzard has started sucking hardcore at making games, or they are saving up content for the next 2 releases. In either case, Wings of Liberty is worth no more than $30 as a package. They could have pushed $40 even.

Honestly, if it wasn't for the pile of shit that Bnet 2.0 is, this game would be so much better.

Okay, pretend for a moment that balancing will be fixed. Because we can assume that it's in Blizzards main interest to keep its legendary RTS superbly balanced, and balancing can sometimes be tweaked through patches later anyway.

Now you still have your criticism towards the quality of the game. My next question is, why do you think Blizzard made Starcraft 2 that way? A "Starcraft 0.5" and "dumbed down". What do you think is Blizzards motivation?

Meh, all of these gripes pale in comparison to there being no chat rooms :(

U mean on Battlenet? But u can chat in the lobbies can't u?

Im not going to get this game most likely. They will keep the price jacked for years and all I want to do is play the single player once which means its hardly worth paying full price three times for the whole thing.

Tease.

This is what really gets me. People are up in arms about measures by companies to thwart or make money off of used console game sales. There are those who are in disbelief with the current state of console gaming. How did it come to this? The nickel and diming for console gaming at this point is really disapointing, but nothing like what PC gaming has become.

When it comes to PC games though, the "it's gonna be really awesome so it doesn't matter" line seems to be thrown out more often. I'm a fan of the PC platform but I'm worried about where the industry is right now. Online activations for single player games? Not ok in my book. Trusting consumers to do the right thing with simple anti-piracy measures (cd key) is the right way to do it. Anything greater simply inconveniences actual customers more than pirates and therefore causes more problems than it solves.
