Forums - Sales - CNBC: 310,000 Xbox 360 consoles sold in the U.S last week

TWRoO - Even though Gballzack had good, intelligent posts, she was the Kwaad of the Wii. Nearly every post she ever had was argumentative, and anti-Sony/MS.

At any rate, if true that MS almost sold 350k last week in the US + Canada, thats great news for MS. Time will tell whats right and wrong.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Does anyone know where the reporter get the 310k number from? I can't seem to find where that number come from or quoted from either a Microsoft representative or some other kind of source.

I am a PC gamer, and also have a NDS now, but without access to a Nintendo Wii until End of 2007.

Currently playing: Super Smash Brothers Brawl(Wii), Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer(DS), Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime (DS), WiiFit(Wii)

Games Recently Beaten: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King (Normal; Very Hard after the next DLCs become available)

1 word: RTFA

Apparently they are also saying that software sales last week for the 360 were equal to both Wii and PS3 software combined. Anyone want to figure that one out?

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

However like I said for Nintendo's press release I'm waiting for NPD November result ...

Microsoft said that it outsold Sony's PlayStation 3 2 to 1 last week, according to retail estimates.

I would like to know more about this retail estimates.

apparently 360 outsold PS3 2:1. If that is true then the PS3 numbers are very good, perhaps very slightly overtracked. It would be 155k, obviously there is Canada but probably only has a few thousand considering there is no black friday.

According to that, "360 software outsold PS3 and Wii software combined."

 Vgchartz has

Wii: 2,521,741

PS3: 943,709

-------------------

Total: 3,465,450

360: 2,369,203

Difference: 1,096,247

And apparently it OUTSOLD them combined, not sold the same as, so the actual difference is some number greater than that.

Well now that they made that claim I have to doubt their data.  That's never happened (or even come close to happening) in the last few months.  I call bullshit on that.  I can't imagine they would even have access to retail sales data of Sony and Nintendo software.  So yeah, now I wonder if they made up the first claim too.

Next-Gen.biz title of the news :

Microsoft’s Aaron Greenberg tells Next-Gen that top retailers had reported Xbox 360 hardware outages during Black Friday week, as the new Arcade package performs above expectations.

See my post above.

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

You realize though that even if Microsoft got these "retail estimates" even taking out Wii Sports and Wii Play that would be nowhere near an accurate statement.

@celine: Thanks, now this is just getting confusing.
