Forums - Sales Discussion - CNBC: 310,000 Xbox 360 consoles sold in the U.S last week

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=212314

apparently 360 outsold PS3 2:1. If that is true then the PS3 numbers are very good, perhaps very slightly overtracked. It would be 155k, obviously there is Canada but probably only has a few thousand considering there is no black friday.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

They realeased numbers because Nintendo did and it is a big number so it is good press. As usual we don't know what exactly these numbers mean (shipped, bought, etc.) Also it is probably like the Nintendo result (if we saw data for an entire month things would even out ). Nintendo said 300 and 350, VGC said 250 and 420.

The one thing we can say is that ioi is once again in the ballpark of other data and his is the first I see.

Final* Word on Game Delays:

The game will not be any better or include more content then planned. Any commnets that say so are just PR hogwash to make you feel better for having to wait.

Delays are due to lack of proper resources, skill, or adequate planning by the developer.

Do be thankful that they have enough respect for you to delay the game and maintain its intended level of quality.

*naznatips is exempt

If we adjust for Nintendo, are we adjusting for Sony and Microsoft press releases, as well? I think sinha's question is a fair one.

i have a feeling its only shipment numbers stated.. not customer sales.

That's what it usually is when a company reports sales figures.

Does that apply here?

Apparently not if ioi adjusted figures for them.  Either that or ioi's adjustment was due to his own sources rather than Nintendo's reports.  You have a point though.  It's black friday week and companies are more likely to be reporting consumer sales because of how strong they are.

I would be surprised if this site undertracked the 360 for once. ioi has accepted that he actually overtracks them (vs NPD).

Perhaps ioi should lower the totals for 360 sales.

According to that, "360 software outsold PS3 and Wii software combined."

 Vgchartz has

Wii: 2,521,741

PS3: 943,709

-------------------

Total: 3,465,450

360: 2,369,203

Difference: 1,096,247

And apparently it OUTSOLD them combined, not sold the same as, so the actual difference is some number greater than that.

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

Uhhh, what??

Edit: Seriously, can you explain this?  Microsoft claims 360 sales were over 50k higher than the vgchartz estimation, therefore ioi should lower the 360 totals?  How the hell does that make any sense?

Welcome darkdragonblade Are you Gballzack?

Can we trust those numbers more than vgchartz numbers?

I highly doubt it...i wondered myself who this gballzack was (she was here when i joined i think but not for long) so i found and read a few of her posts.... I really cannot figure out why she was banned in the first place because she posted very well thought out and well written posts... and i assume she is probably on the site still now but as someone we do not suspect and probably respect.

I can understand why she stayed banned due to multiple new accounts while banned, but i doubt she continued to do that for as long as this, no one is that insane. (instead making one no-one suspected)

Microsoft announced Thursday that that Xbox 360 sold 310,000 units for the week of November 18 in the US. This compares favorably to the year-younger Nintendo Wii, which sold 350,000 units during the same time frame.

Microsoft said that it outsold Sony's PlayStation 3 2 to 1 last week, according to retail estimates.
