This has been on my most wanted list since it was first revealed.
Even SMG2 hype couldn't move it off the first spot.
Judging from the credits, there were about ~70 people involved with the game. 7 were voice actors, and 16 were debuggers.
There was some overlap with people taking more than one position, so I think in terms of people actually building this game technically and designing stuff, it is about ~35 people.
So I agree, they probably don't need much more than 175,000-200,000 copies sold to start making cash. However, it really depends on America. Japan+Others will contribute around 75,000. If Reggie keeps true on his promise to promote the game somehow, it could clear 100k in America. It isn't often you would think a Nintendo published title couldn't pull that off.

Yeah, it's definitely a cool game. I'm playing through it at the moment. Yes, I do have the actually JP game and I'm playing it on my JP Wii (as I am in Japan
). I definitely recommend picking it up (and supporting Treasure!).

Ever play game boy games on your Snes with the adapter? Ever use game boy color which plays the same games as regular gameboy?
If you did you'd notice that those games had color... Original game boy couldn't display it, but games were designed with color.
We could have a similar situation here...Wii can't do HD but some games may be designed with HD in mind. Metroid prima 3 and Mario Galaxy look as good as most 360 titles.

It was released on May 7th in the E.U.
Yeah, that's how big its release was.

if i remember correctly, in an interview they said that they started working on the game with a team of 4 people, and then near the final stages of production the team grew to ~20 people.
BTW it's an amazing game, i bought launch-day here in europe and i absolutely love it. for me it's already wii GOTY. if you're low on money, DON'T BUY MARIO GALAXY 2, BUY THIS ONE!

I was reading the credits (which were in Japanese) so I might have been counting people twice. I read the Iwata Asks Interview where it said the team started small and then grew, so you are probably right.
How long is this game anyways?

a playtrough on normal lasts about 4 - 6 hours (depending on your ability), but you'll need to finish it 3 times to get the real ending.
and then there are the online leaderboards...
