Forums - Gaming - Why are some Nintendo fans angry with Move?

@Rolstoppable you think that any company will be mad if they "only" sell more than million copys on 1 platform??? I wonder what system you were playing last gen. You strike me as a person who just jumped on the bandwagon 3 years ago. As for fighting games, MS & Sony dont look like their going anywhere, so we'll never find out.

@hypnochronic Wii has LESS fighting games, RPGS, FPSs, action, racing than the competitors, that is a fact. If thats not your preference then thats a whole diff. discussion. No VC games arent Wii games

@Alby da wolf couldnt have put it better myself

^No Oniyide, he's saying that a first parties job is to put out games that raise console adoption. That is why Iwata called Wii Music and AC failures despite selling about as much as a GOW3 or UC2.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

@theRepublic I just find it strange that all of a sudden there is whispers of this new controller. I could be wrong, but its just too convient. I dissapointed cause this shows IMO that they could have done this all along, it took another company to finally take this motion thing more serious, function wise.

There were rumors of that all-in-one Wii controller in 2008.

But Nintendo kept on charging an extra for WM+ functions until a competing controller with them built-in came close to release.

They bundle M+ with Wiimotes and most M+ games now for just $10 more.  I'm sure if this all-in-one Wiimote hits market, it'll be the same premium price as the current Wiimote/M+ bundle ($49.99).   Which is also probably what the Movemote will retail for.

Its because they are afraid it will be better, if they think its going to suck and fail  they wouldnt attack it with such hostilitiy.

True, but they are doing it now. As I wrote in another thread, they overcharged as much as possible, wherever possible and as long as possible for it, for example here in Italy the bundle Wii+WS+WSR+WM+ got the official drop under 200€ just a few days ago, before it was sold for not less than 225€, and the black bundle stayed at 249€ for a long time before getting the first unofficial discounts by big retailers.

Your point?  This sounds like business to me.

@The Ghost of RubangB

I played the majority of those games at GDC as well and while the games were definitely not that great and were early in development, I could tell that, TO ME, the move tech was much better than the Wiimote's.

For example, was playing the gladiator dual part of sports champsion ship. Took my move and did a little "doink" type overhead move (i.e. I moved the controller really slowly). The game did a little doink type motion and said "WEAK!". If I did that with the Wiimote on wii sports tennis, it didn't make much of a difference how hard I swung my raquet.

To me, that is the big difference.

I think the move and natal will bomb personally, but I think the move is better tech wise than the wiimote in terms of accuracy.

You would think that someone into video games enough to go to GDC would have some experience with Motion Plus.  I guess that isn't the case.

You're right, I don't have any experience with WM+ nor did I state that I every did, sorry if you made that assumption.  I did say Wiimote, not WM+.

No, they've been packing it in with games (for a $10 premium) since launch.  They've been packing it in with wiimotes (again for a $10 premium) since last November.  Now they're packing it in with the console for free.

Nintendo really hasn't been bad with M+ pricing and bundling, probably because they want to push adoption as much as possible.

You keep missing the point. The question is can Sony's first party alone keep a platform going. Obviously that's not the case when you look at how much their games sell. One million or two or three just aren't enough to argue that Sony's first party is capable of carrying an entire platform on its own. Hence why it makes sense to say that Move needs good third party support as well in order to succeed. There's only one big Sony franchise and that's Gran Turismo.

As for fighting games: even if a scenario is unlikely to happen (like both Sony & Microsoft leaving the console business), you can still work with probabilities to imagine what the most likely outcome is going to be. I think my argument has been pretty solid and all you have done is trying to deflect the point in order to not have to say that you were wrong.

well how did sony win last gen? there IP'S sold around the same amount this gen as they did last gen. and don't say anything about GTA cause it was multiplatfom last gen to.
