''facepalm'' companies should really make up their minds before announcing exclusivity and stuff. Wada should just say its coming to the 360, he won`t back down after this comment >_> Otherwise he would just make a lot of 360 people feel sad, which is worse in his opinion than making the ps3 owners feel sad/betrayed.

But seriously SE is following the money even more than ever before $_$

In other words, no surprises here.

I dunno, FF13 has done very well on xbox 360, but I still think the sales it has there could have been achieved on PS3 too. I think PS3 can sustain a FF game by itself. But if all S-E is seeing is sales on the paper then yeah they would want to do this move.

I think they should make Versus timed exclusive worldwide at the least as a litmus test. For example many people said MGS4 was going multiplat but when it sold that well on PS3 I don't think Konami felt there was any need to go multiplat.

At this point SE has shown that they want to expand into the west market more on the xbox360 over the ps3, and nothing wrong with that I say more power too them at SE.

The fact that SE has made more Exclusives for the xbox360 this generation than the PS3 tell's the story more so than some gamer's wishing for SE to stick with one company over the view of some misplaced loyalty. The fact that SE is looking out for their best interest's in North America is a good thing for their bottom line.Though I do think SE is leaving some money on the table though quite a bit that is.

I can see some gamer's "mainly being PS3 only gamer's" upset by this but SE's history speak's for itself, they go where the Money is. right now SE's best expansion into the western market IE: in this reguard I am talking about mainly North America is on the xbox360, though I think the Wii should also be a focus also Along with the PS3. Though While I do see SE trying to expand their market as a good thing , but leaving less exclusives on the table for other game console's in this generation is a big mistake In my opinion. Esp. for 3rd parties.

I think the real issue is SE stated from the start they were going to be more even across the board on releases on the game console's this generation, but so far that has not been the case at all. that may change but it sure does not look like it will.

Yup they are doing it for money no doubts and as they are a company we can't criticize them doing it jsut for the money. But when they make promises & break them, that I have a issue with. I couldn't care less if versus went multiplat, FFXIII did and its one of my favorites in the series.

BUT when they say it WILL NOT go multiplat then they should keep it that way.

yea i agree it's a company and you have to expect that company to do thing's that is in the companies best interest's.

though I can indeed see the flack thrown their way for not being upfront with a multiplatform status of any of their IP's. Now while I think there may be not intention to mislead the consumer by choice they have not been very open with their communication with the consumer about their direction until later or after the fact. Now that may be from miss communication through their public relation's or they do not get their info out as quick as they could.

So I cannot fault them looking out for their companies bottom line, I do think they need better and faster updated communication to the consumer though.

Exactly they need to improve communication, they need to be honest. In fact for versus XIII they shouldn't have announced a platform for the game at all, thats the best thing they can do, just don't announce the platform & see how things go. They should only announce the platforms when they are certain what console it will be on.

i have alway's look at it that way also, but companies do that to generate Hype from fan's of their IP'S

See the way i see it :

is in the past SE has grown their IP fanbase on both Nintendo and Sony platform's.

the only one they have yet to grow their IP fanbase in a sizeable number's yet is on Microsoft's xbox platform's.

not to say they do not have IP fanbese for their IP's on the Microsoft platform , it's just that they have not had enough time yet. both Nintendo and Sony have 10+ year's of advantage that SE has had to be able to grow their fanbase for their IP's , if people have not noticed..that's what SE is trying so hard to do, grow their fanbse for their IP's on the Microsoft platform.

How well that work's out is anyone's guess , I think it will take quite some more time though, It still seem's to me the majority of game's the gamer's on the xbox platform still prefer MP 1st or 3rd view shooter's as the most played game's on the xbox platform.

SE trying to change the gamer's taste's of their game preference that to increase their IP fanbase into their RPG's on the xbox platform is looking to be a very daunting task, not to say they would not be able to do it , far from it, I just think it's going to take more time to do so.

Proud psOne/2/3/p owner.  I survived Aplcalyps3 and all I got was this lousy Signature.

I knew this would probably happen to do with it. The sales on the 360 were good enough to impress SE especially with the severe handicap the 360 had. E3 is going to have some huge suprises.

Kinda funny how people react, Wada is just considering it but also tetsuya nomura said it might not be possible, Also maxing out a bluray means 4-6 DVD's. Who knows....

The PS3 version only outsold the 360 version by 800k in the west, the only areas they were competing in, and the 360 version was clearly a rushed port, so they can't have spent a lot of money on it. If they can start on it earlier, they might even release FFvXIII (360) in Japan as well, and I don't think the PS3 version will be able to sell as much if it's exclusive, as both versions combined if it is multiplat.

I think the chances of FFvXIII remaining exclusive are slim.

So the PS3 couldn't have made up for the 360 sales?

MGS4 did just fine making on PS3 & outsold MGS3.

@geddesmond

YAWN

The plan was to make it linear from the get go, they didn't change the whole games structure after 2008. Did you whine when FFX was on the weakest console last gen?

Get over it.

Ah right so you know it was there plan to make FF13 linear from the get go because? So they planned from the very start to make an area called Gran Pulse which they would use as there only place that gives the player a sense that there playing an RPG. Stick it near the end of the game were it coincidently lands on the 3rd Disk of the Xbox 360 version, Yeah sure they did. Anyone who thinks FF13 wasn't sacraficed for an Xbox 360 version are just fooling themselfs.

Oh no YOU are fooling yourself. So your telling me that after the port was announced in 2008 they CHANGED the entire game & made it linear in the 1 years 6 months they had to release it for the Japan release? Puh-lease

Again thats how the game was planned, you didn't like it, fine tough luck but its not xbox 360's fault, get over it.

Oh my god I'm shocked that you actually think they only started working on a 360 version of the game after they announced it. OK if the game wasn't sacrificed for the Xbox 360 version of the game then explain to me why the first 2 disks of the 360 version contain only story chapters and no missions or freedom what so ever and you can't go back to an of those areas. You explain to me those things there and maybe I'll stop fooling myself as you put it.

I'm, not god, I don't know.

The devs clearly though it would be boring to let you back track when those chapters were a straight line. I know I would be bored to do that. I'd like an option to play each chapter again in New Game + mode but I would hate to backtrack.

Now you give me concrete evidence on how "Xbox 360 ruined FF13", by concrete evidence I mean a source.

Any response to this post without concrete evidence will be seen as an admittance of defeat.

I can't believe I'm going back and fourth with someone whos first FF game was probably FF10. Anyway your last bit of that post was just a very childish comment. But seen as you must have missed this a few months back I'll post the link again.

http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/13/square-enix-cut-a-games-worth-of-content-from-final-fantasy-xii/

I've been playing FF games for over 12 years and I know what a FF games is. FF13 was not a FF game and if FFV13 goes multiplat I will not be buying it because I know it will be just another linear piece of crap compared to the rest of the games in the series.

Oh and by the way, any response to this post without concrete evideance that FF13 wasn't sacrificed because of the 360 version will be seen as an admittance that you don't know shit about the FF series. There see how that works there.

Just because they said so doesn't mean it's the truth. You aren't going to say to the bigger crowd of your fans that you've screwed their game just to get some more cash.

So we move into theory and guesswork then? Sorry, but I can't be bothered to discuss that.

The game will allways be better as exclusive.

Really? The only games I can recall that were negatively impacted by going multiplat, were games that had shoddy ports, and even then, only the ports were bad. I doubt the 360 version of Bayonetta was impacted by the PS3 port, and I don't see how giving PS3 owners the game is bad, when there was no felt impact on the 'original'.

In other words, more guesswork then.

I'm worried about the quality going down from the need to optimalize it for two platforms instead of one. That's undeniable fact.

I'll have to trust you on that, you're the only one who can tell me what you worry about after all.

What I've said can be reached by a very simple logical conclusion. While the first may be theorycrafting, the rest is fact. If you can't grasp the very basic concept, that utilitizing the full power of one platform is allways better than meddling around on two, trying to make them both the same "ammount" of bad.

Everything is guesswork unless you can back it up with bulletproof claim, which you can't in any case, unless we are talking tautology.

There is nothing to grasp. You're assuming that technological improvements will lead to better games, which is wrong. Yes, improved technology can help make better games, but it is never guaranteed. I thought Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was better than Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, despite MW2 being technologically superior (and that's before we consider the gimped multiplayer on PC).

Assassin's Creed 2 wasn't better than the first game because of the technology either. There weren't many technological changes from the first game to the second, the tech was in many ways the same from the first game but optimized and with some additions. What made AC2 better was the gameplay changes, and the tech changes had little effect on that.

I think it'll stay PS3 exclusive.

When FF13 jumped ship it was a very different situation in the console war, with the 360 thrashing the PS3; now they're much more closely matched.

His statement seems like the kind of very general answer execs give when they don't want to make an official statement yet and just want to fob off the question.

i do not think it's just about the xbox360 sale as impressive  as the main reason or anything like that, it's mainly about

getting their IP's that SE have to grow a larger Fanbse on the one platform SE has yet been able to do so far like they already have on Nintendo and Sony platform's the one they have not had the option to do so was because of how new the xbox platform has been offered on the market.

Microsoft is still the new company on this market that SE has yet to push their IP's on in a sizable way due to Microsoft not having a platform on the market for SE to build their IP's on. last generation they did not have as much time. this generation they have had more time but still there is less fanbase built because it's going to be tough , because the majority of game's that are on the xbox360 that are played the most are shooter's

for online MP. and MP type game's are the core staple of XBOXLIVE what SE has an uphill battle is many of their RPG's are not taylored made for that type of game play , though that has indeed changed.
